My workaround was to use “embedded” reel names, and rename all the 5d reels to match their file names.

So a clip MVI_1234 with source file name MVI_1234.mov got a reel name of MVI_1234.

Not really a proper solution, but it works.

  • There are still little things though, I really miss. Like the secondaries curves tools. And sat controls for highlights. Its like getting a ferrari, and then missing the extra cupholders your toyota had.

You could just group them obviously.. Is that what you mean?

    From the apple forums..

Good news, there is just a bug in the CUDA System Preference pane! The update you need is online:
    https://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda_download.html

Released CUDA Toolkit 3.2 RC 2 (October 2010)

I guess in the future check the website for updates, as obviously the preference pane is broken

Yes, but isn’t this a fermi based card?
I’d suspect that, even if the number of cores are the same, the new architecture should provide a pretty big advantage. At least bigger than 20-30%.

Nick, how are you getting around the 8 character filenames in an EDL?

    Hey Dwaine,

not sure how or why, but it works now. I can toggle through all options fine. Not sure what changed.

Yes but there are multiple render cache modes. The toggle only works for render all.

Yeah I’m doing the same workflow.

I kinda like the idea of the reference workflow cause you don’t have to media manage, and you don’t have to check the final version for stuff like FCP MM screwups (i.e. timewarps, slipped frames, wrong fonts). Or have to deal with Avid_MediaFiles folders.

Are you building your EDL’s without dissolves? I find that if I include dissolves and then expand with handles, Resolve is building duplicate lengthened clips for the dissolve portion of the cut.
