March 12, 2015 at 10:05 pm in reply to: How fast is USB3 SXS Card Reader Transfer SpeedI have 2 16 gb SxS cards and it takes me about 13-15 mins. if the cards are full ( 55 mins) to transfer as I use the Sony SBAC-US 30 3.0 card reader…on a MacBook Pro I-7 2013 model.
but using the Thunderbolt port with the Sonnet reader for MAC is very fast and the best to use.

OK thanks…as I have updated to Content Browser 2.3.1 on my MAC and I will test out the card….as I hope Content Browser will read the sxs card with the .mxf files on it. all I am doing is a “copy” from sxs card to hard drive via the mac book pro….
many thanks

March 6, 2015 at 4:30 pm in reply to: Transcoding multiple files in Catalyst Browse fails with .smiIan,
I had the same problem yesterday..as I called your office….I have
Catalyst Browse (latest version) on 2 laptops..one is a Mac Book Pro I-7 with 10.8 (2013) and the other is new Dell I-7, both with 8gb of ram….and they are both doing the same thing…here is the back story:
I shot a corporate video last weekend and on one SxS 32gb card I have 20 minutes of B-roll and 2 very long speeches about 30-40 mins each…well, when I pulled up Catalyst Browse on the MacBook Pro to do a simple “copy”…I noticed that the B-roll clips were .mp4 and they transferred normal…But when it came to the long speeches, it showed the clips as a .smi file and cut off the first 10 minutes of the speeches..and had the little “chain” icon on the upper right side of the clip….so I went ot the Dell laptop and it did the same thing..
so your saying its the program that needs to be updated to handle the longer clips?

February 26, 2015 at 4:00 am in reply to: Export XDCAM EX to SxS card for camera playoutI have FCP 7 and this works for me:
https://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdcam-ex-pro-handhelds/236702-how-export-fcp-sxs-card.html
it might be a little different, but when I do news with my EX-3..I have to feed out the story on my camera when in a satellite truck. Read the listing to see if this helps…
good luck…

November 19, 2014 at 5:58 pm in reply to: Atomos ninja blade and the Sony ex-3,ex-1-r, pmw 320OK…this is what I do when I have the Atomos blade on my EX-3…..
first, set the menu on the Atomos to camera, then when the drop down box appears… pick “Sony”
then mount it on your camera….put a sxs card or what I use is a MxM adapter with a 32gb sdhx card….in the A slot….then set the EX-3 time code to “record run”….
When you push the record button on the camera, it records on the sxs card…as the Atomos will see the time code running..it will go into record mode….so, in a way you have 2 records…one in the camera and one on the Atomos box…..simple
and when you push the record button to stop….all will stop. always made sure your recording and stopping as one time, the Atomos box did fool me one time….
so your set to go…
