How fast is USB3 SXS Card Reader Transfer Speed
I’m doing 3 huge on location jobs this year, 100-150hr, each project, and I’m shooting Sony SXS cards transferring using brand new Macbook Pro with USB3 and Thunderbolt2.
I need to make there’s enough hours in the day to shoot, transfer, rinse and repeat for 3 – 8 days. How fast does 35GB SXS Cards transfer when using USB3 to laptop and Thunderbolt to hard drive?
I guess I could transfer to internal SSD by day for speed, then by night transfer internal hard drive to external HDD.

I have 2 16 gb SxS cards and it takes me about 13-15 mins. if the cards are full ( 55 mins) to transfer as I use the Sony SBAC-US 30 3.0 card reader…on a MacBook Pro I-7 2013 model.
but using the Thunderbolt port with the Sonnet reader for MAC is very fast and the best to use.

If you are interested, here is an article on USB 3.0 speeds and how your hardware might be holding back your transfer speeds. Faster USB 3.0 Performance You may want to ask your local Mac Genius if the know anything about this.
