I would definitely go with the quad core, no question about it. If you aren’t afraid to mess around with it, the Q6600 is easily overclockable to about 3.2ghz. Using nucleo pro to take advantage of your cores, thats going to be twice as fast as the other processor! Even if you don’t overclock it, it would still be a better choice.

You might want to check out this SSA Karaoke Animator script: https://www.aenhancers.com/viewtopic.php?t=380

I think it should be possible to rig it up to do what you want. Whoever is making the karaoke will need to use one of the various programs that can create ssa scripts though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubStation_Alpha#Editing_programs

May 31, 2007 at 12:54 am in reply to: Adding a Final Fantasy Style Battle Menu?

I recently made something like that in flash for a school project. It’s actually not all that hard to create it entirely in After Effects.

Are you trying to build it all yourself or were you intending to cut out the menus from footage you recorded from in the game? If you are just cutting it out from footage of the game it ought to be really simple. Just a little masking and some keying.

If you are making it yourself, its still pretty easy, but the whole process of animating all the little pieces can be extremely time consuming. You can make the boxes from just a mask, the stroke effect, and ramp effect.

Just edit the shortcut to append -L EN onto the end.
Shortcuts for various languages should already be available in the Adobe\Adobe After Effects 7.0\Languages\ folder, so you could just copy the one you want over to your start menu.

Also, I think you could just set your system locale to the US and reinstall, and then change it back.

Are you on windows? If so you may need to install support for east asian languages through control panel>regional and language options>languages tab.

Well, technically h.264 supports lossless compression, so it is possible. However, I think Apple’s limited h.264 implementation doesn’t support it (though I have never personally used their codec, I just hear that it is extremely limited and incomplete compared to other h.264 codecs).

Have you tried the card wipe transition? It should be able to do most of those quite easily. For the “twist” ones, check out the CC Ball Action effect, or CC Twister. I think you need the professional bundle of AE for all these effects, though I’m not certain.

October 2, 2006 at 7:39 pm in reply to: looking through a snow globe effect

I did something kinda like this once, but without the shaking.

If it doesn’t have to look super-realistic, then I don’t think it would be much trouble. You can find a tutorial for creating a snow globe in photoshop here: https://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/l/blsnowglobe1.htm
You want to keep the glass part as a seperate layer when you bring it into after effects, so you can put your source and the snow under it.

For the snow, there are a number of different plugins that you can use, but the shaking will probably be tough with any of them. One simple solution might be to apply numerous copies of a snow effect, and when you “shake” the globe, change the directions of all these effects, so that you have a lot of snow effects all shooting around in different directions, then you could have them slowly revert to falling normally.

Out of curiosity, what makes re:vision flex morph better than WinMorph or After Effect’s reshape filter? I’m looking at their website, and none of the features listed really seem like anything I can’t do in one of those two programs.

  • Youtube just sucks at keeping audio in sync. If you require your audio to be in sync, then I would recommend using some other video service such as google video.

I’ve tried testing a veriety of different video formats on youtube, trying to find something that would just work perfectly, but I couldn’t find anything that would stay in sync.

As a workaround, you could try shifting the audio a bit before you upload, to try and compensate for it. If you dont like how it turns out, you can delete the video from youtube and try again.
