In project properties, is audio set to 5.1? Audio track headers should have options for placement, if VMS PLatinum 9.0 is anything like 10 or 11.

  • Would it behave better if you rendered to a different encoder? Or changed the project properties?

I found with a different Canon camera that clips would not be a whole number of (Vegas) frames long. That would cause a problem when snapping to frame boundaries on import, which would leave fractional-frame gaps between clips (Vegas Movie Studio 10 & 11). I don’t know why the fractional last frames, but I found it easiest to turn off snapping during importing multiple clips (so no gaps) and then with ripple on, use a key shortcut sequence to jump to the end of each clip and trim it, discarding the fractional frames(maybe it was ‘]’ and ‘0’?) without leaving any gaps.

Vegas creates those .sfk files matching clip names. Depending on how you substituted one clip for another of the same name, vegas may have been driven by the .sfk for the wrong one.

There are many hints around the web about vegas’ problem with this. It is not usually ram, but address space. The thing that worked for me, besides your preview ram=0, was to turn off thumbnail display in the timeline.

I can imagine there are many things that consume the vegas address space. For me, the same project would render on one system but not on another, and I never figured out what the difference was.
