I run 2 & 3 and haven’t run into conflicts yet, though I don’t do a ton of video work with them. I have edited a couple old projects with 2, and some new ones with 3. 3 can’t play the source files that worked fine in 2 for some reason, so I still wind up using 2 half the time.

Found it. Just posting for future reference:

    – Control Panel/ Mouse Properties / ‘Motion’ tab
    – deselect ‘Disable acceleration in games’

I’m also unable to get at the audio in PPCS3 from mpegs created by my Sony SR100 HD camcorder.

I’ve got PP2 still running on my computer, and I was able to hear it in that and export it for the thing I need to do right now, but long-term that’s not viable.

Feels like a codec thing but I don’t know anything about them, and it seems odd that 3 wouldn’t be able to hear the audio whilst on the same machine 2 can.

Oddly, it also seems to mess with my clipboard, too. Copy/Paste stops working when I run CS3.

Interesting. I certainly haven’t been impressed with either the performance or the stability of this new system. It’s freezing all the time when working with PPro, which is all I’m using this box for; haven’t even installed anything else on it, really. No Office or other apps.

Wonder how one would diagnose that for certain. Was thinking about removing the CPUs one at a time and seeing if I noticed any change.

    Thank for the response Mike.

Does it sound familiar that it might be _worse_ with the extra power, though? Is there some known issue I haven’t been able to find with something like the quad xeons? Only stuff I’ve seen has been positive.

    a few additional details:
    -running XP Pro
-video card: ati 2400 (same as on old machine)
-ppro v2.0 (same as on old machine)
-disk space: about 250gb free on a WD MyBook external drive. also tried on the empty 140GB drive that came with the computer, with same results.
