Two versions of Premiere Pro on same computer?
I know this has been asked before but I cannot find a thread in the search. I have a computer running PP1.0 XP service pack 1 with a matrox RT.x2 card. I recently got a HDV camera and CS3. I’m still finishing up an old project on the pp1.0 version and don’t want to remove it just yet. But I have to import some HDV footage and down convert it letter boxed on the import. I need to use the newer cs3 version to do that. Can I install cs3 along with 1.0 without any conflicts? I do not plan on opening the 1.0 projects in the CS3. I only plan on importing HDV footage and down converting it on import. Thanks very much for any help.

I’d say the rule is NEVER upgrade or update while working on a project.

I ran two versions on two different machines and did not have any problems.

I dont think you will have any issues…but have plan B just in case; Lloyd, why not give David your cell phone number so he can call you for help if needed!

I have 6.5, 1.0 and CS3 all running on the same XP computer right now. Even accidently started 2 versions at the same time with no ill effects. You need to manage your third party plugins so they show up in both places properly. And once you install CS3, if you just click on a project file, CS3 will try to open it. Just don’t let it save if you need to go back.
Nothing Matrox anywhere near this computer since 6.5 was 6.1 though.

I run 2 & 3 and haven’t run into conflicts yet, though I don’t do a ton of video work with them. I have edited a couple old projects with 2, and some new ones with 3. 3 can’t play the source files that worked fine in 2 for some reason, so I still wind up using 2 half the time.
