Thanks for the tips, but I still have the problem. It happens when I create a text clip using the basic FCP Text Generator. I’ve gone into the Motion tab and clicked the red x for each category of parameters (Basic Motion, Crop, Distort, etc.) and it doesn’t help.

Here’s an example of the text generator showing the same problem.

It definitely happens with other file types, but otherwise, I can’t answer your questions.

I’ve never really taken the time to try to pinpoint the problem. I mostly work around it by submitting smaller batches, as Rich suggests above. In your situation, you have 600 videos, so small batches aren’t practical. Maybe (as Rich said) MPEG Streamclip could work for you?

Thanks! That worked for me. I also have FCP 7 installed on the same drive; perhaps that is the cause of the issue.

That’s funny. But don’t forget that beta testers have no authority; they simply give feedback to Apple and Apple alone decides what to do. (And no, I wasn’t a beta tester. ;))

Never would have thought of that–thanks! That actually works pretty well, especially since you can place a Favorited range in the timeline and then lengthen the clip into the ‘unfavorited’ handle if need be.

Craig, thank you for the tutorial! Very helpful. I have to say that really is a rather convoluted design; especially because you have to create a new Storyline for the sole purpose of adding the cross-dissolve. And that would make me worried about sync, especially since FCP doesn’t have out-of-sync indicators. But enough complaining–thanks for the workaround. 😉
