I love comedy, so I had a lot of fun with this one. This will be “airing” on the scoreboard at the Comcast Arena –home to the Everett Silvertips. I shot this entirely with my Panasonic GH2. I utilized the SmallHD DP6 for monitoring and the Juicedlink DT454 for audio. Edited in FCPX and scored with Sonicfire Pro. The client loves it and that’s what really matters!

Great stuff. Can I ask you what lenses you used, and how the hockey player hit shot was done?

Thanks, Ben! Since we had to move quickly, I used a single lens for the whole thing; I think it was my 28mm f2.8 manual Nikon. For the hockey hit, we had a couple of pads down on the ice. The actual hit wasn’t as hard as I was hoping for, but I tried to make up for it in post. I sped up the hit a bit and added the earthquake effect to give it some impact. I scaled the clip up just enough to allow the earthquake effect to do its thing without seeing the edges of the frame. Scaling the clip was not a problem because I shot in 1920×1080 and edited in 1280×720, so I had lots of extra resolution to work with. I topped it off with some sound effects to help “sell” it.
