I used to have one of the 126 LED ones mentioned above but the Z96 (https://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Z96+led&_sacat=0&_odkw=Z96&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313) is much better build quality nicer/brighter light and takes the same batteries as the Z1. A vastly superior light in every way.

It is the channel change that is making me get a wired. I Have a Sennheiser G1. I cant justify getting a new one and there is not much of a used market yet for the new channel.
The RODE looks promising, RODE generally provide exceptional value. I am yet to work out it it could be used for broadcast but if I need that quality I should be able to afford to hire.

I finally managed to get through (I did try earlier with no luck) and it turns out it is not there lights. They are Iranebeam 800 which are made by Strand (They are Ianiro copies) who I don’t think exist any more. I also spoke to a glazier and they say as the glass is only 2mm thick it can not be heat treated/safty glass (whitch starts at 4mm).
Apparently the Ianrio ones have wire mesh not glass. I am going to do some research on how much heat glass can stand but think I simply need a standard 2mm/136mm glass disk.

Found it, it was Motion Picture and Video Lighting by Blain Brown and it was not you.
So you don’t have to worry (over this) about your sanity;).

Thanks a lot for that. It nice to see someone answering the question and not recommending buying lots of expensive kit.
I saw you recommend a couple of books on lighting in another post but cant find it. I have the John Jackman book and would like to know what else I should have a look at.
Its interesting that it does not mention powder to help with the sweat hot lights create on talent or is there a better solution?
