The tutorials look good but I am a student, I guess not Resolve Lite is free books may start appearing. Guess I will have to make do with the User Guide for now.
Could stretch to 50 bucks for a book but cant currently afford/justify 200.

I ended up picking up a 5770 for £70 (PC version but works with Lion). I may of pent a few hours but I have also learnt a lot about Macs in the process. For example it looks like I can upgrade to 2*4 core 2.66Ghz. I think if I decide to build a new box it will be a Hakintosh;).

Now I’me confused;). My understanding was that the 5770 was CUDA, that is why it works well with Blackmagic Resolve.
As for the optimal solution I am sure my setup is not. I have a 2007 Macpro1,1 and there are much more powerful cards than the 5770. Are people saying the PC and Mac version of the 5770 are not equal in terms of GUI performance and the PC version does not work as well with FCPx/Resolve? I am not in a position to buy a new mac.

Don’t quite understand you reference to user interface. This is hardware we are talking about. Also I am getting the PC version as it works with lion and is half the price used.

Thanks Dave,
Currently they are mainly focusing on winning the licensing bid, when that (hopefully) happens the nitty gritty of building a station will be there focus and (hopefully) things will be considered properly. At least they are talking about having a proper asset management system but can discuss this when the time comes.

The GT-120 is the cheapest, out of the two is there much difference in terms of performance. I haven’t heard these two mention in terms of FCPx.
However the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 is dual head, does it work with FCPx?
