What are you trying to transcode to? If you’re in FCP, just export as H.264, you’re good to go. I think you asked this question on the Apple FCP forum in a slightly different way. Tell what your ultimate goal is for transcoding this.

1. Place audio track in the Primary Storyline.
2. Select it, press X to make it a Range Selection.
3. Press Q to attach the image above it, it will automatically adjust to the duration of the selected Range.
4. Export as H.264.

Size your image to your video frame size, unless you’re doing pans and zooms on it. When you export, that image will be scaled down, anyway. Scaling down too much can have the same detrimental effects as scaling up too much.

Going between big and little endian PCM files isn’t going to make a huge difference. What is your goal, exactly?

And you checked the settings for all your monitors in System Settings?

I’m on am M1 Pro Max MBP and I have pretty much no issues with FCP 11.2 on macOS 26. There’s a slight hesitation when switching between apps I never had before, but nothing that has me worried. Works just fine here. And all of my work is on a 32TB external HDD RAID.
BUT, that said, ALWAYS make backups of your Libraries and the FCP app itself before doing a major upgrade.

Both links are bad.
But I’ve been own this road before. FFMPEG isn’t going to give any better audio or image quality than FCP, in general. For YouTube, H.264 gives you all the quality you’ll ever need. ProRes for YouTube is a bit overkill and wastes time with overly bloated video files.

I use Simon Says Transcription, works great, but not totally free, but pretty gosh darned inexpensive. Nothing around does 100% accurate transcriptions yet.

Yep, I keep everything in the Library. I edit TV shows that have several seasons in one very massive Library. Never any issues. I keep my drives clean, and I’m running a MBP M1 Pro Max. No issues. System drives of any OS must keep minimum 15% free space. But yeah, just another folder.
As a retired IT engineer, I can assure you, it doesn’t matter where you store your media, it’s just files being read off of a drive. Being inside the Library has NOTHING to do with anything. Drive speed and system hygiene is all that matters.
