[gary adcock] “We need to respect the rights of each Mfg’s forum out of courtesy to them for their support of the Cow.”
I think that ‘respect’ should start with the cow if Aja ‘owns’ this forum as would Blackmagic Design ‘own’ their forum where there are Matrox advertisements inside their threads eg.

David, I have also gone straight from the timeline thru media encoder to Encore 3 and full blu-ray authoring. It was all rather painless and the results were spectacular but I would hate to get you too excited!
All I need now is an easy way to get my HDV finished program out of FCP and into Prem CS3 for HDCAM mastering. Right now going out of FCP as 1920×1080 takes forever AND a s**t load of portable disk space. I might try and see if I can load up a compatible Mac BMD MotionJPEG codec and see if CS3 is happy about it. See, I am pioneering again!

Hey Joshua – yeah I remember you and I wont mention the ‘C’ word!
What I also do after I have finished my MotionJPEG edit I then start a new Uncompressed 1920×1080 and import the project and add all graphics etc and then master out to HDCAM.
Doing it this way my HDV MoJpeg renders are less (size and time) than any uncomp renders but all the graphics etc get the full treatment

I use the BMD 1920×1080 motionJPEG preset and capture HDV. Then I get realtime HD playback out thru the multibridge. Works a treat!

Go back to the original off line edit and alter the master clips timecode using the function in FCP. Then all clip useage will reflect this change. Media manager will then be correct for the on line.
Even if you have already done most of the on line do what I said above and only capture the affected clips and get FCP to re-connect to them.

[Dave LaRonde] “But those buffoons who worked out the standards for HD NTSC actually KEPT 29.97 when they could have gone with 30fps! Idiots! Maroons! Mouth-breathing imbiciles!”
Hey Dave, don’t hold back… let loose your inner frustrations!

1. HVRM10U – HDV, DV/DVCAM dual size tape
This deck actually only accepts the small tape so it is NOT ‘dual size tape’.
The main differences (besides price) between the 15 and the 25 is that the 25 has the LCD screen (as mentioned) but it also has the HDMI connector for digital HD monitoring and also connects to the Blackmagic Intensity card.

Hey Bob – go into the menu of the deck and set timecode to INTERNAL. The EXTERNAL setting will result in zero timecode because FCP does not put timecode into the HDV stream.

Thanks Glenn, thats the way it was explained to me by Sony; and the suggestion of using the higher priced HDCAM decks with the ‘data’ connectors for doing dubs was offered as an option but that is no help when I already have the JH30 and HDW1800.
What I do is master out of the NLE straight to the HDW1800 via HD-SDI 3 times and then any further copies needed later I will do the HD-SDI to HD-SDI cloning so anything other than the broadcast masters will only ever go 1 generation. Is that a good plan?
