    that’s a nice system 🙂

    okey.

    first:

-what are you numbers if you go to the normal preferences and then the part ” Memory and Cache”
here they are: Maximum memory usage : 120%
Maximum ram cache size : 60%
and they work fine for me, even on my New Dell laptop who has only 1 GB of RAM with normal projects.
If those numbers are the same as yours, mayby put the value of the ram cache size higher. the box “enable discspace” is not checked with me, i don;t think you need that with 4GB of ram

    – under Composition>new composition (or composition settings) check the advanced tap(next to basic) and choose by “rendering plug-in” Advanched 3D
even if your videocard has openGL try it, mayby then your problems are over. but first try point 1 discribed above because.
I’m not sure this will work because yes, it’s rendering, and thats not the problem in your case.

by the errors your getting it sur lies with cache i think because it goes no further than 15%. but I’m no expert in this so ^^
or AE doesn;t understand something about the file type. (what also could be the case when reading many things on the internet)

it’s weird though, because on my laptop (with 1GBRAM) i could open a project who had like 25 shots for a movie i made, together 4GB or something. and that worked fine. even with the 256 ATI mobility videocard that came with it. those shots were in 16:9 widescreen MPEGS with a JVC everioG HDD camera(GZ-MG77)

    heey.

    okey, let’s see.
after a bit looking arround the net i got these things:

    – you don’t have a codec pack, or the right one. download the K-lite codec pack

-look at the secret prefs (by holding down the shift key when accessing the prefs) and look if you can change something there

    – look at this post : https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/2/865795?

    – change your render engine from open-Gl to something else (that seems to work)

I have never encounter this myself, mayby because i have a multi processor and that i have K-lite installed. I deal with MPEGS as well.

okey, let me get this straight.

you have a Premier Pro project that you wanna open in AE? , or do you have that 9GB file that you wanna put in AE and when you save in AE the next time you open it crashes?

or do you reopen it in Premiere pro? it’s not very clear in your message

if you edit it in PRemiere pro and save it as a ppproject file. if you open that in AE the only thing you see is your edited clips, not the total clip (unless you didn’t delete the stuff you wanna get rid of or something). (remember double click on the sequence file, not drag it or something)

Premiere makes a peak file for that large 9GB file so that it can work faster when reloading, i don’t thing AE does that stuff.

search for that error on google. or on this forum.

if you are more specific mayby I or someone else can help you better 😉

    here we go again 🙂

    heey,

-Edit your clip in Premiere. than save your project(normale premiere pro project file).

-open After Effects. file>import, then import your Premiere Pro project file.

-now you see your clips in the project panel and very important a sequence file (it’s called that way I thought).

-double click on that sequence file (important: do not move it into the timeline, just double click). and all your seperate scenes/shots/files (cut in Premiere pro) appear in the timeline in AE as seperated layers (also transitions and styles from Premiere PRo are imported).

-then use coole effects on them separedly. if you wanne render in AE, your done here.

    render out in Premiere :

-then save your AE file. and if you wanna render it out in Premiere pro, just open the AE project file in Premiere.

-then only 1 clip will appear, but you’ve edit this the first time in PP and allready applied effects on it in AE, so no prob there 🙂

i tried dynamic link, but this is only a options for 1 scene/dvd menu or whatever per sequence. only usefull if you wanne see direct result between AE and PP. not with a movie with 200 shots or so:P

July 6, 2007 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Replacing Heads

you could look at the tutorial from andrew kramer, (www.videocopilot.net) where the actors head is blown of.

If you have a shot of the background without a person, then the same shot made but then with 1 person who’s head has to change (note:do not change the camera angle or anything else). then you can simply mask(masking tools like pen tool etc) his head away (you see just his body with the background, because you shot also the background without a person, that layer is under it) and replace it with a head that’s from another layer.you see?

    heey Serge

thanxs for all the efford. this realy helps me alot.

ofcourse i will look at the custom edge in illustrator. i want to learn something so that i can make things myself. not just simple coppying from someone who’s a pro.

I thing invigorator is a very powerfull tool, not a plugin, and i realy want to learn more about it. so thanxs again, and i also think the invigorator training vol 1 is something that will help me alot in the future. so I’m realy looking forward for that release.

Because this circle is so tiny, the dept value of my frisbee becomes 0.03 ^^ i realized this after you told me.

here is a screenshot what the values are, and the rendered look in full quality render (this is just a test, not a beautifull frisbee)

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/ultimatebart/708122958/

    -so why a tiny circle
-and those edges still won’t smooth nicely in the full renderd version in AE. any idea how to smooth that?

    thanxs 🙂

heey thanxs, that realy helps 🙂

I also found a complete guide at their website that is very big and it explaines alot.
the thing i don’t understand (yet) is ; why use a very tiny circle?
if i import this tiny one in invigorator. it becomes more like a pencil with rough edges than as a simple circle with a bit of dept.
very nice when you wanna make a bullet, but not for a frisbee i guess.

July 3, 2007 at 10:40 am in reply to: making that frisbee spin

    I’ve done some more test.
and the problem lies in positioning the circle frond straightup to flat

I’ve made an simple circle in Illustrator en imported in invigorator.
when imported, the circel stand up straight. not flat as a frisbee.
when i move it to this flat position. the X and Y rotation switches for the ” spin effect”. so now if i change the X-rotation it spins. but for some reason it is not ballanced or so. and the rotation becomes wobbely. this is due to the fact that you cannot flatn a circle 100% by hand without guidelines in invigorator, if its 99,9% it becomes wobbley)
so i need to make a circle in Illustrator that lies flat. adjusting it in invigorator for a upstraight circle to a flat circle obvious won’t work.(no guidelines0

(i tried this also with a simple 3D primitive plane with some dept, this plane stands upstraight and if you change it to flat like a frisbee, you can see that if you change the X-rotation it becomes all wobbley)

    any help?

here you can see a few examples how the frisbee has to spin on one finger:
