I am almost certain now that the Matrox 3.6 drivers are the culprit. I reinstalled everything this morning . . . up to Matrox 3.5 and I have yet to experience the issue again.

As soon as I get a few projects wrapped, I intend to install the 3.6 drivers again to see what happens.

I have not experienced that particular problem. I’ll experiment today and see what I come up with.

    What I have noticed is this . . .

I primarily edit and deliver from a PC, but have clients who usually view Clip Notes on a Mac.

Every time we’ve had a problem with them opening the Clip Notes(QT) on their Mac was when they opened it with Viewer, rather than opening Acrobat Reader and then opening the Clip Notes PDF. I tested it on our in house Mac and this was the case . . . opening in Viewer failed . . . open in Acrobat Reader . . . success.

That way you can deliver to both platforms. Unfortunately in a mixed-platform environment . . . you have to educate your “client” on how to properly do the Clip Notes things. Either all PC users will have to have QT installed on their machines, or you will have to output twice if they insist.

    Thanks for the response . . . I’m not sure when I’ll go 64bit.
But I had planned on adding the Axio as well . . . when I’m able.

Confirmed . . . in a non-Cineform project, both cores function at or near capacity.

    Interestingly . . . Vegas takes full advantage of both processors . . .

Maybe it’s an issue with Cineform? I will post back as I am going to test a PPro Project without the use of Cineform.

I edit a few files from Tricaster on PPro CS3 with no problems.

I did however download and install the Newtek Multi-Codec pack from their site.

At our church, I have edited on PPRO 1.5 with the same codecs . . . with no problem.

    Hope that helps!

November 10, 2007 at 10:50 pm in reply to: Growing Your Business

We set aside a certain number of hours each year that we will work on production for non-profits.

Each request is considered and then chosen based upon the type of services that the non-profit provides to the community.

After those hours are used up, any request for “donated” services is quoted at regular rates or asked to submit a proposal for the next calendar year.

Seems to work well . . . but we have never seen it as a way to market the business . . . more of a way for us to give back as well. It does get your name out there . . . you never know who will see your work or what influence they have.
