Not as fast as you might think… One of my favorites is Composite Wizard. It’s been out there for years, under different names.
The biggest problem with these kinds of questions is that the original poster didn’t mention whether he was into motiongraphics, or specialFX and compositing.
For motiongraphics, most people wouldn’t use Composite Wizard. But for compositing I’d highly recommend it.

Well, Particular is a way more elaborate particle system than the CC plugins. I like the CC particle systems for setting up fairly simple effects.
For more control, and occasionally realism, I use Particular. The amount of controls can be a bit daunting at first, and it really took me a while to get to grips with all of them.
Anyway, if you need a more complex particle system, look no further than Particular.

Yes, for some reason, a gradient is called “ramp” in AE… One of those things.
Well, if Knoll Light Factory doesn’t do what you were referring to, maybe you could be a bit more explicit in explaining what ‘diffractions’ you were talking about?

Hi,
The vignette is not much more than a white-to-black radial ramp (render>ramp) on a solid that is overlayed using ‘multiply’ blend mode. Play with transparency to taste.
The light artefacts you see are lens flares. The industry standard lens flare effect is Knoll Light Factory (https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/knolsec2teso.html)

Myeah… I meant ‘render’, and sort of didn’t realize that ‘export’ is also an option in AE. I never use ‘export’.

Make sure when you export to quicktime you have selected “RGB + Alpha” in the output module, and Millions + color depth.
Also render to a codec that supports alpha channels such as Quicktime Animation (preferably at 100% for best quality).

Well, since you’d be using the Decklink for your video out, any card with 2 monitor outputs will work.
I’d recommend going with nVidia chips. I’m very happy with my 6800GT board.

Well, one way to get more interactive control over a Solid’s color is adding the Hue/Saturation effect to it, and adjusting the color that way.
I’ve asked Adobe for modeless control of solid settings using some kind of inspector a couple of times, but it’s not happened yet…

Put the handwriting on one layer.
Place a solid on top.
Create an open mask shape that follows the handwriting.
Add render>stroke to the mask shape.
Animate the stroke to grow from nothing to the full word. Make sure the stroke thickness covers the writing.
Set the animated stroke as alpha track matte for the handwriting layer.
Usually this leaves small issues where the writing intersects with itself, but not in the way that you describe.

A pretty simple solution is to duplicate the foreground layer.
Take the bottom foreground layer, fill it with black, blur it a bit, set blend mode to ‘multiply’, lower transparency to 25% or so, and transform and skew it to match the direction of the light a bit.
