The spinning logo would be an Illustrator logo extruded using the 3D Invigorator plugin (which is 3rd party).
Add a lensflare to introduce it.

Well, if that’s what he wants… although it’d be difficult to put an 88 min. project onto a DVCam tape…
In terms of quality, chances are you’ll lose a lot of it when using DVCam or even BetaSP as a master… Normally I’d bring an uncompressed video file to a transferhouse and have them play it out to DigiBeta… but if the client wants DV…

Well, Nucleo Pro isn’t out yet – but looks promising.
Nucleo itself is mostly worth it if you have a multi-CPU box, or dual-core CPU. As you can see from the benchmarks on the site, which are quite realistic, a reasonable to considerable speed increase can be achieved with Nucleo – depending on the type of project and the plugins used.
But is it worth it? Well, on my dual Opteron system I’d see the CPU’s used around 60 to to 70 percent, depending on the type of plugins used. With Nucleo they are used 100% during a preview. So I get more out of my hardware.
Worth it for me. But it depends on your system, too.

[Dave LaRonde] “You’re NOT deinterlacing footage when you use that lower-field first button in AE, you’re interpreting the footage.”
Well… you are actually…
When After Effects separates fields, it shows de-interlaced video in the comp window.
Only when rendering to fields, After Effects will render every field separately, but when rendering without fields, the de-interlaced source is being used, resulting in de-interlaced footage.
TonyTony: how about a couple of sample frames so we can see what you’re seeing?

Hmmm…
I’d love to see a couple of frames of that footage…
Of course different de-interlacing techniques result in slightly different image. Magic Bullet produces subtly different results from FieldsKit and it will be the same for BCC Deinterlacer.
But AE’s own de-interlacing has worked with me for years and years and years…
So I’d love to see a couple of frames of the end-result of the project you’re talking about.

Hi Itamar,
Separating fields in AE, and rendering without fields should do exactly what you need – so something must have gone wrong in the project you describe.
If you export without fields, separating fields results in de-interlacing. The method in Andrew Kramers tutorial works, but causes more loss of vertical resolution than necessary.

Maybe you need to clarify:
What are you trying to achieve that can’t be achieved by enabling ‘separate fields’ in the footage intepretation window, and rendering without fields?
The result is de-interlaced video.
There are more advanced ways to de-interlace, most notably Magic Bullet and Re:VisionFX’s FieldsKit (great value), but AE’s built-in field separation does a good job and is by far the least cumbersome solution.
But if you can explain why the built-in solution doesn’t work for you, we’d be able to supply more specific feedback.

On another note:
For 2D cut-out character animation have a look at Moho:
https://www.lostmarble.com/It’s 90 bucks, but features everything I hope AE will one day do in terms of bone skeletons with inverse kinematics, and bend deforms based on the bone skeleton…

July 25, 2006 at 2:13 pm in reply to: Removing Edge Flicker From Chroma Keyed BackgroundYou could try a pass of Remove Grain before applying the key. Usually the jittering edges are a result of amplified noise or grain in the image.
If you’re worried about losing image detail in the denoised foreground, you could actually use the result from the key as a track matte to the original footage. That way you pull the matte from the denoised footage, without losing any foreground detail.
