EX3 and EX1 do not have cache recording, only the EX1r has.

Yes, I see what you mean. If I remember correctly, in very old versions you could select a bunch of clips and just paste it and will paste the transition on all the cuts (Or was it wishful thinking even back then). But in successive versions they always remove a couple of such conveniences in the name of… I dunno what. Me too am waiting eagerly for CS6, but I hope it doesn’t upset me like CS4 did. CS5 works fine but CS4 was a nightmare.

What version of PPro? Did you try copying and pasting it?
Copy your transition, move play head to the cut where you want the next transition and paste. Make sure your video track is active (highlighted).

    Have you tried this?
    1. Apply Fast Color Corrector.
    2. Auto white balance with color picker.
    3. In the INPUT LEVELS try changing the midpoint from 1.0 to any of 0.9 to 0.5 or even lower and see how much detail if any can be recovered in the highlights.
    4. Try dragging the white in OUTPUT LEVELS down from 255 and see if that helps bring out more detail in the white areas.
    4. Tweak the color further as necessary to match your normal clips.
    Hope that helps.

A RAID 0 disk can help HD editing. Makes it smoother. Believe it or not I increased my memory from 16 to 24 and most of the delays/hangups disappeared. And that machine already had a RAID 0 for video. In other words, for HD editing, spruce up in any area you can. Do you have more than one video stream, or just one?

You don’t need to have AE open when you work on PPro.

[Jeff Lester] “> Selected all clips in the timeline of PP and opened them in a new AE comp >”

How about if you open individual clips in AE as individual comps? They reamin individual clips back in PPro.
The process may be sluggish depending on your machine, RAM, CPU etc.

Create a new folder by any name, for instance TAPE1, and move BPAV1 to that folder and rename it BPAV. Repeat for your other BPAV2 etc. All footage will be intact inside those folders.

  • DDR3 RAM is cheap these days so get 16 or 24 gig (for under $200). You will love it. I have 24g in one of my boxes and it runs smooth with HD editing. Win 7 64 bit. Of course you will need RAID drives and good GPU etc to benefit fully.
