I have CS5 (10.0.2.4) on an Intel Core2Duo with 6GB RAM, Win 7 x64 – I just found out I have this bug too! I did everything Dave said (I am animating .pdf’s so the footage can’t be the problem)

Though, the common thread I am hearing here (noob assumption) is high layer counts, and maybe comp counts? … I have over 250 layers (all .pdf), but when I am animating I take only one or two into another Pre-comp (but not every layer is being animated)… my Pre-comps only have up to 6 or 7 layers, but I am not sure if the other 200 layers, and multitude of pre-comps are somehow affecting it…

The problem seems to happen with random keyframes… it won’t be all the keyframes of a property, just 1 here and there. Like right now I am working with adding a Glow Layer Style, I have 5 keyframes set on the Glow size, but one of them is immovable, and won’t even turn yellow on click! If I double click it, it’ll bring up the property window to adjust the value, but I can’t move it in time.

anyone know of any other suggestions, fixes, or troubleshooting?

  • Thanks Dan, I will give it a try! I don’t know how you get anything else done when you are answering our noob questions all the time 😉

BTW – Where is “time” measured from in an expression, the beginning of the Comp, or the layer?

    Thanks again!

I believe you need to freeze the rotobrush… I am doing similar work. Once you freeze it, you should have an easier time using the layer in your comp.

  • I just tried that… I exported an uncompressed .avi out of Premiere… I took down all the colors except green, so the green dot shows up nice and bright, and still the tracker won’t follow it. Maybe the motion blur is throwing it off… I did change the setting to adapt feature, but still no go…

  • Thanks for the reply Angie…

I wish I could describe this better…. I already know about that, and now that I’m thinking about it, After Effects itself may not be able to do what I’m asking without a script, or expression.

I am trying to stretch the clips as if they were one unit, not a bunch of separate layers who’s out points are just dragged out. Say I had 3 clips staggered so the next one’s in-point was at the out-point of the previous clip. I want to try to grab the endpoint of the 3rd clip, drag it out to stretch the time, but have the in points move with the outpoints, and all three stretch equally.

  • That’s it, thank you so much!

Who knew that if I’m starting with a slide show presentation, that I wanted to make a slideshow in After Effects… so weird! 😉

    Thanks again!

June 15, 2011 at 2:02 am in reply to: No sound during Multi-clip editing

    Thank you for the workaround!

Well, I finally ended up figuring something out….

So I ended up clicking on the Panel options for the Multi Camera Monitor and seeing the “Audio Follows Video” option, so I checked it, and now I get audio for each item I click on the left side (Which I then unclick the “Audio Follows Video” Option once I find the audio I want to use) NOW my question is, is there a way to directly select the camera’s audio I want to use? (The Video 1/Audio 1 dropdowns near the bottom of the Multicamera Monitor are for the Sequence I’m in, NOT the nested sequence)

    Thanks all!

Hey all, this is driving me crazzzzzzy.

I have CS5. I have my Video and my audio track selected, and I hear audio when I play from the timeline, as soon as I enable Multi-camera editing, the audio disappears! My Audio is set to track one (The only one with audio since this is a nested sequence)

Any other suggestions, besides what’s above.

    Thanks all!

March 17, 2011 at 9:51 am in reply to: Cant relink media files

I am having the same issue…

My boss backed up a bunch of drives that we needed to clear up room on, so He copied all the various OMFI Mediafiles folders for the various projects into folders on an external drive.

Now I am trying to get Avid to link to those files so I can consolidate them on another drive. I move the “OMFI Mediafiles” folders into the root of my external drive, then I open the corresponding project in Avid (which is located on a different drive) and I try to relink them in Avid, but it won’t relink. I’ve tried deleting ALL the database files, it still won’t scan the external drive.

I have no idea how to get Avid to scan my drive. I know Avid can see the drive because I try creating a blank title into it, and it shows up as a drive to save to. DOesn anyone have any ideas?

it’s MC 2.6.4, just in case.

    Thanks all!
