Cant relink media files

The media must be in a certain file structure on the root of your drive. For example, if the media is now on the M: drive, it should be here:

M:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1\[MEDIA – .mxf files – goes here]

If your folder structure is any different, or spelled any differently, Avid won’t see it as media and won’t scan and database it.

there was no MEDIA file, it was like AvidMediaFiles\MXF\1 .mxf files. so i create a new file as MEDIA and move all mxf files into it but it didnt work.(no scanning)

i have three files in my disc; Avid MediaFiles – project file(statistics,bins etc.) – OMFI Mediafiles. nothing seems missing but it still thinks all files in another drive.

am i doing something wrong?

I think you misread what I typed (and what I typed wasn’t very clear). You shouldn’t have a MEDIA folder inside your numbered folder – I was saying that’s where you media goes. Sorry about the confusion.

You should have:

M:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1\.mxf files
M:\OMFI MediaFiles\.omf media
Your project file (you can put this where ever you want).

If you don’t have a space between the words “Avid” and “MediaFiles”, Avid won’t see your media. So if it’s AvidMediaFiles -> Media will be offline. If you have your .mxf files inside a MEDIA folder inside your numbered folders, Avid won’t see your media.

Also, when you open Avid go to your Media Creation settings and make sure Filter Drives Based on Resolution is unchecked, and uncheck Filter System Drive and Filter Launch Drive. Then try to rescan your databases (File–>Reload Media Databases). That should force a rescan, or close Avid, delete the database files, then relaunch Avid.

I am having the same issue…

My boss backed up a bunch of drives that we needed to clear up room on, so He copied all the various OMFI Mediafiles folders for the various projects into folders on an external drive.

Now I am trying to get Avid to link to those files so I can consolidate them on another drive. I move the “OMFI Mediafiles” folders into the root of my external drive, then I open the corresponding project in Avid (which is located on a different drive) and I try to relink them in Avid, but it won’t relink. I’ve tried deleting ALL the database files, it still won’t scan the external drive.

I have no idea how to get Avid to scan my drive. I know Avid can see the drive because I try creating a blank title into it, and it shows up as a drive to save to. DOesn anyone have any ideas?

it’s MC 2.6.4, just in case.
