So what do you recommend I do?
Should I make sure my timeline is rendering in ProRes, then export “quicktime movie” with current settings? Or drop my sequence first in a SD timeline . . . . all very confusing.
Thanks

Zane,
Thanks for the good info!
About the gigabyte ethernet RAID, how does that work exactly when you want to also be connected to the internet through that connection?
I’ve never used the ethernet connection for anything other than internet.

I got an answer from Walter himself 🙂 what an honor!
Walter, would you get the new iMac quad-core? If you were shooting with an xh-a1 and 5d/7d? and planned to do some green screening!?!?
If so would you go with the i5 or i7?
Thanks!

I would like to also no the EXACT same question only I use an xh-a1 and going to add the 5d/7d to the mix. I also would also like to start using pro-res soon.
So anybody can help? Thanks from the both of us 🙂

Is this something that after effects can do? bring 3d objects into it’s projects and use them?
All the great Motion Graphics i see is done by a marriage of AE/illustrator /photoshop and some 3D app like cinema 4D. are this Mographers bringin in the 3D objects in to AE?

Thanks to all for the responses!
So do you all recommend i leave it the way it is and export it like that as well? My usual final format is for customers to watch there events (weddings etc) on DVD. and i’m shooting in 16×9?
what do you guys think?Thanks

thanks – your quick!
“BUT it still will not be any easier to key with, add titles to, and color correct”
but it will be faster for playback, basic editing, and transitions (not filters)???
and how about if i send a clip to Motion3 to add titleing/effects and etc any faster then w/o downconverting?p.s. sorry for the basic question but – what does the lingo mean when you say “native” . . . . . . . . . i.e “however it will render much faster then native HDV”

March 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm in reply to: process of downconverting HDV(1080i from sony’s HC3) to SD in FCPGreat thanks!!
I just opened FCP 6 and am looking at the quick settings. For my HDV 1080i footage (from the hc3) would you recommend the DV-NTSC easy setup or the DV-NTSC Anamorphic? This is what is called downconverting? now my footage is SD and I can edit in SD which will be faster?
Since i am delivering the final product on dvd to those who are not watching in HD is this the way you would recommend? or should i suffer the HD editing and then the downconversion can be when i export in compressor? Thanks for the lighting response!
just great! I love technology (thanks Al Gore for the internet LOL)Aviv

Thanks for the answer!
1)Can you expand a bit on “don’t by a hdv camera buy a P2” – Thanks2)in your answer you said to “just capture using DV settings” – does that mean the camera automatically converts it to SD if I am capture SD settings?
3)No need for special external devices or setting on the camera (say my Sony HC3 for example)?
4)can i keep my footage in 16×9 even though i am capturing in sd, if so how do i do that?thanks again
