    Surely this has been asked!

but after 1hr 45min of searching i have no choice but to ask? Sorry if this is too easy or obvious LOL.

After capturing from my XH-A1 (hdv, haven’t started capturing yet in ProRes), I want to now make a SD DVD with DVD Studio Pro and I want to know how I should export for BEST visual quality.

So far I have simply selected the Sequence (which is rendering in HDV, perhaps i need to change that to ProRes?) and chosen export with compressor – i choose best quality 90min DVD. Done

I am aware I can export it as a quicktime and then compress that as an mpeg2 for DVD. Which is best?
And if it is the quicktime to compressor route then EXACTLY what setting should I be using?

    Thank you!

p.s. should i use something other then compressor and does it matter if my material is 60i or 24f?
p.p.s what is the time difference between the two routes?

What version of the software are you using? Exporting to QuickTime Movie gives you a master and also lets Compressor work much more quickly, then if you tie Compressor to FCP.

    All the best,

All the more reason to go to QuickTime Movie in my view.

    All the best,

So what do you recommend I do?

Should I make sure my timeline is rendering in ProRes, then export “quicktime movie” with current settings? Or drop my sequence first in a SD timeline . . . . all very confusing.

    Thanks

No, don’t double compress it. Take the ProRes export to Compressor.

    All the best,
