This is the main reason why I prefer working using “Remote” grades. Each time you import a new XML with the same clips but different in/out points, the grade gets carried over. No need to reapply grade/re-track every single clip.
You only have to select the correct versions if you have those, and adjust the tracking on select shots.
To use Remote Grades…
V11, Color Page. Right click on any thumbnail on the timeline. Click on “Use Remote Grades”.🙂

We work mostly with commercials and this is how we do it too. We do a tech grade first where all shots are nicely balanced. This will be a “safe” grade that leans towards the final look already.
After all vfx work is done, we do a final grade. Step one is to make sure everything blends seamlessly. We use external mattes. After everything looks good and “correct”, we have more freedom to play with the look and take it whatever direction the director wants to go.

Hi Pradeep.
Instead of choosing “Retime Clip” from the Menu, try using “Change clip speed” right on top of it. You should be able to type in the exact adjustment you want in terms of % of the frame rate.
hope this helps.
Cheers.

September 4, 2014 at 10:48 am in reply to: Balancing colour of the trees in different shots 🙂Hi Chris. After getting a clean key of the warrm greens, I just used the “Hue” control to shift the color. That control should be in the color page below the color wheels. It’s right under the “Gain” color wheel. 🙂
Use that in conjunction with saturation until you get the color you want.
cheers

August 12, 2014 at 9:28 am in reply to: Balancing colour of the trees in different shots 🙂I keyed the warm greens and then shifted the hue to match your cooler greens. It was a rather clean key so I think it shouldn’t be too much trouble for you.

you can also try using the a/c viewing mode (record/source mode).
from the manual:
Sorting by C mode makes it easy to identify a range of similar clips. For example, if you’re working on a documentary, sorting by C mode will arrange all of a particular subject’s head shots from a specific interview contiguously, one after another, since they all come from the same range of time code on the same source tape. This makes it easy to balance them, copy grades among them or group them.
To toggle between A and C mode sorting:
View>Timeline Thumbnail Mode Source/Record submenu.
Another trick if you want to view all clips from one scene simultaneously:
View>Split Screen>On
Tick Selected ClipsSelect all the clips from that one scene.
hope that helps somehow! cheers! 🙂

thanks! that’s so much help! 🙂
Actually I have a bit of a problem with the autosave function as well. I set it to autosave to a backup-project every 10 minutes. I crashed and lost some adjustments, so I went to the backup list to retrieve my lastest autosave and…there was nothing there. 🙁 does anyone know where backup projects go?

Hi. 🙂 Pepjin is correct. But you can also try using a dynamic. Think of it as a dissolve. You can have one grade at the start of the dissolve and another after the dissolve. You can also adjust the length of the dissolve.
If you have the full panel you can select current node (the one for the face that you’ve already tracked and color corrected). Hit “start dynamic” at the point you want the change to begin, determine how long you want the dissolve to be then hit “mark”. You can now change the grade at the end of the dissolve without affecting the color at the start.
Hope this helps. Cheers

In the stills page, you can right click anywhere on the gray area. In the menu there’s an item called “Sort stills by” you can choose “create time”. It will organize your stills according to create time and you can delete the new ones you don’t need.
hope this helps 🙂

I understand your sentiments. It gets hellish especially when I get, for example, a minute long, one-shot kind of scene.
In the Film Master, dissolves were done in such a way that every time you make a dynamic, the system manually splits the clip into two. Much easier and cleaner way of doing things.
Resolve feature request?
cheers. 🙂
