Thank you, Dave. I appreciate your time. I took a look at the thread you suggested, but I’m still not clear about my specific problem.

I apologize for belaboring the point, but I am asking if I should check the Progressive or Interlaced button when encoding to MPEG-2 because I’m not clear if the DVX100A 24p setting gave me “true” 24 PROGRESSIVE. Also, should I check either the “Top Field” or “Bottom” field in the encoder as well.

My confusion rests with my reading that the DVX100A 24p is not true progessive and should be treated like interlaced in editing.

Question: I see you are a MAC user…and I believe ProCoder is a PC program. Will “Parallel” on a MAC handle the PC software?

I guess I can answer my own question!

After speaking with two Apple techs, I was told that, indeed, it is a bug in Compressor 3. Try it. You can “save” a custom setting like I described above…it will, indeed, show up in the Inspector of that Custom Setting…but once it is applied to your exported clip from FCP, the Custom Setting stays exactly as you designed it EXCEPT for the GOP structure (as I outlined in my original post). The techs said that this issue will have to be addressed in an update. That’s a real bummer!

Is there a way to “reset” the LS card or check to see if it has, in fact, been updated?

Thanks for replying. But I still cannot get video out.

I tried the EASY SETUP in the following setting: AJA KONA-LS 8-bit to DV. Still no luck. When I look at FCP>VIEW>VIDEO PLAYBACK…I notice that it says AJA KONA-LS 8-bit 720 X 486, not 720 X 480. Actually there are not AJA settings at 720 X 480. Should that be like that?

I then tried all the other AJA EASY SETUP Settings, again with no luck.

Can you also clear up this question as well? In a broadcast monitor, it usually states the “lines” as in 800 lines. But how does that translate into XXXX-by-XXXX display monitor? In other words, I can understand that if you are using, for example, the MAC 23″ display monitor, you’d have enough XXXX-by-XXXX resolution for FCP Studio 2…but if you were also using a RBG/component broadcast monitor at XXX lines of resolution, how do you know if you have enough resolution for, say, “Color”?
