Ok, probably this is the millionth time it’s been asked, but for the best encoding results for DV footage going to DVD…which encoder is a clearcut winner: Episode, ProCoder, Compressor 3, or MacEncoder. And whichever one “is” the winner…give me your best-guess-estimate of “how much above the others” is it a winner. Thanks!

Procoder set to ‘mastering’ mode is head and shoulders above the rest. It offers very high quality along with blistering speed.
    I’d give it a 9 out of 10, the others between 6 and 7 out of 10

    It’s a London thing.

    Thank you, Danny2007.

Question: I see you are a MAC user…and I believe ProCoder is a PC program. Will “Parallel” on a MAC handle the PC software?

BitVice is darn good too…high and low bitrates.

Ben answered that question a couple of threads down in the “best quality DVD compression” thread.

In fact I’m a Mac user, not a MAC user (sorry but I can’t understand why so many people want to capitalise ‘Mac’!), but I also run a PC. However I’ve used Procoder under both Crossover and bootcamp, not Parallels and it works fine.

Yep, I’m still with ProCoder as my go-to tool. That said, I haven’t tested the MPEG-2 output of Episode or BitVice that recently.
