I know there’s a major difference in Master pages and the regular pages but I was wondering if there’s a different place to change settings. Like if you change the margins for the document, does that affect the Master page margins or do we change those separately, for example?

Ohhh what is Liquid Layout? I’ve never even seen that as an option any where! Where do I deal with it? As soon as I get in the office on Monday I’m investigating this!

Huh, that never occurred to any of us to try.

So, instead of having 25 sets of master pages for the 25 clients, just have 25 layers that would then apply to ALL the pages in the document, and only turn on the layer you need before exporting, turn it off, turn on the next one, export, etc. ??? Is that what you’re suggesting?

I am having the SAME trouble and based on everything I’ve read in forums, I have:
– unchecked the pulldown option
– renamed the file
– restarted FCP
– remounted the drive

i tried copying all the files off the Firestore to another hard drive and I get this error: “The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “0004sw.mxf” can’t be read or written. (error code -36)”.

I was able to play the clip in the viewer of log and transfer, BUT NOW, after having just restarted fcp, the video looks all messed up and won’t play. fml. I am so sick of this firestore.

I read somewhere that you can’t actually print to tape using the HVX200 and now I’m starting to believe it!

When I changed the sequence settings to make sure they were all DV NTSC, I was able to get the sound to come out of the camera and it would record. And after some more futzing, I was able to get ONE SINGLE frame of video.

But now, nothing seems to work.

I’m in VTR mode on the camera.
I tested the Log and Capture to make sure FCP recognizes the camera (it does).
I have set the sequence to the DV/DVCPRO – NTSC settings.
External video (under View) is set to All Frames.
Video Playback it set to Apple Firewire NTSC.

Now I seewhat’s in the canvas in the viewfinder on the camera and HEAR the audio, HOWEVER, the video on the camera viewfinder is just a single frozen image. 🙁

ALSO: the image in the viewfinder on the camera is squashed. 🙁

If I can get the video on the camera viewfinder to actually MATCH what is being played in the timeline, I think it would record to tape.

I feel like I’m ALMOST there. So close.

Has anyone ever had this issue???? I am about to pull my hair out.

Since you got it to work, maybe you can help me out?

I have the HVX200 hooked up to my mac with firewire. I need to print a sequence to tape (because of a really long and frustrating story involving Vegas not being able to read .mov files). BUT NOTHING I DO WORKS.

Sometimes I can get audio to come through the camera.
Sometimes I can get ONE frame of video to come through to the camera.

Now nothing is coming through.

I can not find anywhere a step-by-step of what I need to do to get this stupid footage on a tape. (It was originally shot in HD on the HVX200 to a firestore. And now I need it on a tape.)

Can you shed any light on this situation? THANKS!

Now what???

So I have the camera set in VCR mode. I have all the sequence settings finally correct. And miraculously, the video in the canvas is also showing up in the viewfinder on my camera. The audio from the timeline ALSO plays through the camera.

HOWEVER. The problem NOW is that when I hit play on the timeline, just to test it, the audio plays great and the video freezes on whatever the first frame was. I have the View -> external video >All Frames checked, and I’ve refreshed A/V devices.

When I go into the Print to Tape mode, NO video appears and only audio is recorded.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG NOW????

I am so frustrated. Its like it’s ALMOST working but not. 🙁

Ok I am changing the settings and rendering some of it to do a test. I read somewhere else that you can’t use the camera as a tape deck and that there is no way to print to tape using the HVX200.

What do I need to do to get the video to play on the camera’s viewfinder????

🙁 The firestores I have were included with the camera I bought (used from a friend of a friend) and up until this point haven’t given me any issues. I’ve been hesitant to sell them and buy p2 cards because I’m not sure if I could get enough for both of them to cover the cost of 2 p2 cards.

Also — do you have to have a special p2 card reader? Or can you hook the camera up to the computer and use it as the reader?

In the mean time, do anyone know if there’s anything special I should do in converting the .mov to .avi without losing quality?

EDIT: I have discovered something:
— File 0w01 stops playing at 2:12, in the middle of the dude’s song, and the counter keeps going for like 20 minutes. BUT THE NEXT FILE, 0w02, starts playing EXACTLY where the first file quit……. if I drop them into Final Cut, they show up with the correct run times and if I put them in the timeline next to one another, they play seamlessly as if they are one file ……

The client who needs these files (he’s editing the project, I just shot it) is working on a PC in Vegas 10. I’m on a Mac. He said he couldnt read ANY of the .mov files I had given him (before I discovered this weird problem) and said he was only getting audio……. so what format can I convert them to for him to get what he needs? AVI? And when I convert them, will the weird long durations show up too???

Are your RT playback settings wrong?

Nope.

Is the canvas an awkward size (below 100%)?

Nope. When it was at 50% I raised it to 100% to see if that helped Did not.

Are you using high quality scrubbing?

Yes.

The Canvas WILL NOT give you full quality playback, and you will find that gfx played back on a proper monitor will look a lot smoother – whatever your experience has been before.

I’m aware that the Canvas won’t give me full quality but the quality its giving me now is HORRIBLE compared to what I’ve been used to for four years.

What is WEIRD is this:
I opened another project that had the same sequence settings as the project that is giving me trouble. I copied the elements out of the trouble project and pasted into a sequence of the other project AND IT LOOKED TOTALLY NORMAL.

Huh?

Is it possible for a project or sequence to become corrupted? All of the sequence settings for both projects were the same but in the Bad Project, the text was almost unreadable due to pixelation in the canvas, and in the Other Project, it looked perfectly normal and readable and what I expected.

Insanely weird but at least I got the text issue solved temporarily for this project. :-/
