    thanks…but is there a mac equivilent ?
i’m assuming you are talking about burning the dvd the way i have been and then…ripping the video elements out so i can use my own menu system ?

    it’s 2 hours and 37 minutes…
normally i just burn it straight to a panasonic dmr… (dvd burner)
but i hate that menu that pops up (the consumer blue background with yellow bars)

my internal drive is the normal superdrive 8x…that comes with the computer i think it’s NEC

    and i only use verbatim’s usually 8x dvd-r

    thanks guys…

let me just add that i actually have a good background in editing…but the more i google and try to learn about the best way to set up my system the more i go crazy trying to figure it out…

    for example i never even gave 8-bit or 10-bit a thought…
but on further review it seems my settings are on 8 bit -yuv…

the reason i was asking about raids ?
i’ve been getting a lot of glitches and stalls while viewing in my timeline…i tried everything…the only thing that i can come up with is that my fw-800’s are having some sort of transfer problem or stalling to catch up…thus freezing my playbacks…

i just want to get my system up to par so i can get to the next level…

right now i’m only shooting dv…(panasonic dvx-100a using a dsr-11 to dump in the video)
i’m actually fine with that…however after to reading all these questions and answers…i’m getting the feeling i’m doing things wrong…and i’d like to fix that.

    thanks for the help

there is a download to get you back to your original quicktime…

    try this page

i have tried audio mix downs….

but this happens while i’m editting…while i’m just viewing the timeline…
i don’t want to have to audio mixdown everytime i’m just viewing for the edit…

    let me ask you this…
    1) can too much ram be an issue or can ram it’s self be a problem (for example…a bad brand…faulty workmanship)

    and

    2) i have two external drives…one is going thru a 400 port….the other an 800 port…
    is that an issue ?

    excellent suggestion…

i did find another way but i haven’t really did a true test…
after all my photos are in order on the timeline..
i select the entire time line and drag it to the viewer…
when the transition screen pops up i just let it go in the overwrite with transitions and it seemed to have worked

  • are you printing to tape or just running it from the timeline ?
