Thanks. And those markers can then be exported to Premiere?

If I didn’t save the Prelude files I used when ingesting the footage, is there a way to import existing files into Prelude without having to re-render or transcode them?

Another issue I’m running into is since I name all my files with the shoot day as the reel number, Card 1 from the day may have clips 1-5, and card 2 will have clips 6-20.

Is there a way in Prelude to have it name clips sequentially, even if they’re from a different AVCHD folder? That is, do card 1 with files 1-5, then card to starting at #6?

It produced 5 files and only 2 renamed. The others are named the same as the original MTS files. And yeah, there were spanned files but Ingesting them through prelude allowed it to figure out which were split.

I’m trying using your method of importing via the Media Browser, but for some reason it’s still importing 4 or 5 files for one long spanned clip. Any idea how to work around this?

Thanks for the tips in your previous post, and for the side note. I was excited about the possibility of doing simple edits without rendering everything. I’m thinking I may give the AVCHD approach a shot for a simple trial run edit where I won’t be collaborating with anyone else. I’ve been using FCP 7.02 for years and immediately felt the speed difference with Premiere (using more than 1 processor has its advantages) so even if it’s a little sluggish with AVCHD, my guess is it’ll be faster than I’m used to.

Thanks for the suggestions. What would you recommend between the 2 formats you mentioned? If either is somewhat compressed, but stable, it’d help to be able to save on disk space. But not if it’ll affect performance.

  • Does anyone have any idea if this is even possible within Premiere?

  • Unfortunately, that was already unchecked. More than shifting when doing ripple edits, I’m more concerned with my accidentally clicking and dragging a marker when trying to grab the playhead. Is there a way to lock them from accidental movement?

  • Thanks!

  • I just figured it out. Ends up I was running FCP v7.0 and after updating to 7.0.3, it suddenly sees the metadata.
