Is this something that is resolved in A/V settings or in Sequence>Settings?

    Thanks,
    Arthur

    Andy,

No idea what you’re talking about here. If you’re talking about A/V settings they’re all DVCPRO HD 720p24.

Yet when the footage goes into Canvas, the res. goes down noticeably and the frame shrinks.

How do you even adjust resolution on the canvas?

Yes sir, 6 to 8 weeks. I applied for mine last week in December and got it only last week, and no notification of any kind here either.

However the HVX handbook is worth the wait.

If you filed online, did you also mail in a copy of your proof-of-purchase receipt? This is a separate requirement.

Check out Cavision.com they have good matte boxes and french flags and side flaps. the MB410H is a good one however due to its 100mm back mount, you will need to purchase two step up rings. Also a rod supports system is advisable to hold the whole thing together securely. Set you back about $5-600 if you order from BH Photo Video.

In regard to (a) and (b) it all depends on what format we determine is best and what will constitute the smoothest workflow. I have 5.1.2 on the latest MacPro with processors on steroids.

Question: if I decide to import 1080i and do frame rate adjustments in post, will I still have that “glass” quality for slo-mo?

    Thanks for your patience.

What about recording in 1080 and pulldown in FCP 5.1.2 which I have and do all the work there, including frame rate adjustment? My concern is this: if I slow down a shot, will there be motion blur or artifact that needs smoothing out? I have heard that frame rate adjustment in 720 native is glass smooth when it comes to slo-mo

Does iDVD do the same job? Or is toast better?

has anyone else backed up P2 to DVD-R? If so, what are your experiences?

Question: When backing up to DVD-R, do you dump hard data on the disc? (i.e., P2 folders) or do you need to format it beforehand? (for example: “burn straight to DVD” option in iDVD).

Does anyone else back up P2 to DVD-R? What are your experiences?

Also another question, if I back up to DVD-R, do I dump hard data on the DVD (i.e. the P2 folders), or does it need to be formatted for DVD (for example, the “burn straight to DVD” option in iDVD).

    ************
I use good old dvd’s. I shoot with 4 gig cards and each card fits
snuggly on a disc. I use binders of 300 to store them in and it works just
fine. I have never had a disc go bad but I am sure it can happen.

I purchase the Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R and get 200 at a time which breaks
down to 25 cents per disc. These are as good as the Apple discs I use
to buy, high quality but much cheaper.

Yes I have a mac-pro, so why not set up RAID-1 with two 1TB drives? This is still drives… I’m thinking hard backup. I searched this post going back 6 month and someone mentioned blu-ray burner by Lacie.
