Yup, that’s the beauty of it.
Now you’re going to find out something unpleasant, like that they crash captured their miniDV downconverts without timecode, and you’ll have to spend a couple of days (or weeks) hand writing your EDL. Or that they didn’t number their tapes when they first captured. Or both!
IOW, you really need to take a long, hard look at their project & see how messed up it is before you can reasonably estimate this. And then add at least a couple of days for unexpected problems. Kind of like a painter needs to come into your house & measure your living room before he can tell you how much it’s going to cost to paint it. And skim coat.

This depends on how screwed up everything is.
Also, how many cuts, total run time, was everything properly logged & media managed, were the EDLs made properly… IOW, see above!
I’d book the deck for at least a week.

You need to use something like a Firestore to do this. Also look at AJA’s Ki Pro recorder and Convergent Design’s recorders.

If you send your sequence to Soundtrack it will behave in exactly the way that you want. STP is a dedicated audio mixing & editing tool, and it’s volume envelopes are attached to the track, not to the clip.

I’m sure that you already know that most films, not just indies, make no money in theaters. Indies usually make no money at all.
Given that, it’s not surprising that the producers are being so generous with money that, odds are, nobody will ever see.

I think it’s fear, laziness and ineptitude masquerading as arrogance. They don’t know how to get ProRes into their Avid, and rather than figure it out they simply tell you that it’s a bad format.
But I don’t know these guys & I’m jumping to conclusions, so don’t take my word for it.

The editing keyboards can help you to learn the keyboard shortcuts for a particular editing app. That alone makes them valuable. At least until you’ve learned the keyboard for that app!

Use Share to make a disk image, then use Toast or Disk Utility to burn that.
