Better native handling of image sequences- you should be able to treat one like a clip in both the browser & timeline.

I don’t know what software you’re using for authoring, but you may want to see if it will let you build the project to a folder on your hard drive. I use DVD Studio Pro, & this is part of my regular workflow. It lets me prototype the disk before I burn it, which saves a bit of headache when you realize that you forgot to set the 1st play, or that you’ve got the wrong button set as your default.

Have you checked to see if that deck is supported by FCP? I remember a couple of years ago there were serious issues with FCP & JVC decks, owing to JVC’s ‘non-standard’ implementation of firewire.

The thing is, it’s not an expensive product, when compared to true ‘professional’ cameras. It’s modestly priced at $6k-10k. If you need the quality of 2/3″ chips with true progressive 1080 resolution, then I’m sad to tell you that you really need to spend more. Quite a lot more, really.

If you can deinterlace by either blending or blurring the 2 fields, then you might be able to get a DVD to look ok on both computer & video. I’ve had moderate success using Apple’s Compressor 1.x & DVDSP versions 2 & 3.

I think I saw an announcement somewhere recently (here on the cow, perhaps?) that Sonic was supporting one of the emerging HD standards. I’d also check to see if Sony has a DVD authoring solution that supports their Blu-Ray standard.
However, there are currently no players that will play HD DVDs!

Check the stock libraries. There are canned zoom in & out of space animations for many major cities (at least in the US). You may also be able to combine some canned spinning globe footage with a zoom into a satellite photo or map. Also check NASA to see if they have the right kind of satellite photos or footage for you to use in the event you have to ‘roll your own’.

You cannot copy or export sequence markers in FCP. You write down the timing of all of your markers & whatever other notes you need.
