You can only get proper monitor output only when using BM’s presets. This I guess will be fixed when BM decides to include DVCPRO-HD presets

December 15, 2007 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Need a good inexpensive audio monitoring solution (SPDIF?)I’ve been having the same issues and I’m using the decklink balanced outputs for monitoring on my HS50’s in conjuction with the Audigy, my verdict is that the ASIO driver in the Decklink, besides incomplete and buggy is only useful for capturing, I say this because in this website they state: “With support for Core Audio on Mac OS X

December 6, 2007 at 12:29 pm in reply to: mainboard suggestion for dectlink hd extreme express cardI’m using the 8600GT 512mb, the 7600gt will work just fine.
You should not have any concerns with crossfire since you’ll be using the second 4/8/16 PCIe slot with the decklink.
I hope this helps

December 5, 2007 at 11:18 pm in reply to: mainboard suggestion for dectlink hd extreme express cardIn terms of desktop mainboards you can certainly go with the ASUS P5K3 Deluxe which I’m using with Decklink HD Extreme PCIe.

The card’s inputs do not work except only when capturing (Premiere, FCP etc.) I really needed this as well but unfortunately the ASIO and the whole driver in general lacks this capability.
In regards to your mike…Is it a condenser or dynamic microphone? If it is the first, then you’ll need a phantom powered pre-amp or audio card with phantom powered inputs to use the mic.
Secondly the XLR is for balanced line in audio, NOT microphones!
You can do a little research, but I managed to use my mike preamp to the Line in of the Audigy with great results and I can use my monitor speakers from my decklink output just fine…

November 16, 2007 at 9:01 pm in reply to: fave settings for HVX200 720P for PAL delivery via MXO???For the latest 720p project I did my workflow was:
1:720 25pn on P2 Cards offloaded to an ixpensive external FW400 disk.
2: Copy to Mac Pro with AJA Xena 3
3: Log and capture with FCP 6.1 and delete mxf files after backing them up to DVD.
4: Place clips in timeline after choosing the appropriate AJA easy setup
5: Assemble edit to Digibeta
6: Edit to AVID MC after offline capture
7: Online for CC etc.
8: Final Master Digibeta.End result looked pretty good though the whole procedure takes ages, but it was due to the fact that post facility did not use the Macs for editing and they wanted it on the Unity.
Personally I suggest 720-25pn as it takes much less space and looks better than 50p that has more of a “TV” look but that’s dependent on your needs.
As for using the same bus for capturing and writing to your disk, I’d suggest doing a test prior to going forward with your plans.
I hope this helped.

Ok, I managed to record audio only (funnily the audio was choppy when using HD Presets and perfectly fine on the DV preset and my raid can handle the data rate) but only when using the capture tool on Premiere Pro. So are the audio inputs enabled only when one captures? If yes, is there a workaround to get constant audio in?
I believe its perfectly possible to enable such a feature through a change in drivers and I urge Blackmagic Developers to do so.
If anyone can think of a way, please post it.
Thank you all…
