I am only the editor, so I don’t know exactly what camera it was shot with, although in the XDCAM transfer tool, it seems to be telling me it was maybe a Sony PDW-F350. In any case, the footage is PAL, 1080p25. What other information would you like?

I am getting the same error message, but only with a few clips, the rest import fine. I am using the Sony XDCAM transfer software version 2.9.0. The error reads “Import Error” “Error reading file ‘C0026.MXF’ (Invalid SMPTE key – then a string of numbers and letters)”. I really need to get these clips in. How can I get around it?

For this file in particular (because this is happening with several files) the codec is H.264. I’d like to bring the videos in at their native frame rate.

I just fell upon your posts because I am having the same problem. I was wondering what deck everyone is using? It sounds like this might be a compatibility issue with a certain deck. I am also capturing mini-dv footage using a Sony HDV deck. The model is HVR-M15U and I am running final cut pro 6.0.1. If this is a deck issue, Sony and Apple should get together to find a patch for it. I was already successful with a similar issue with a JVC deck that was “supported” by apple for use with FCP but having compatibility problems and creating imaginary timecode breaks. In the end JVC and apple worked together to create a software upgrade that fixed the problem.

If you are using the same deck, please let me know. If it is a deck issue hopefully we can get a fix that will improve our post efficiency.

Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I am also working on the Panasonic HD1400 and having the same exact problem. Of course Panasonic technical support closed at 6pm and I’m in a real bind!
