Recording on an AJ HD1400
We finally got our 1400 in, but the Record Inhibit always stays on, regardless of what the deck switch is set to; regardless of whether the tape protect is on or off; regardless of what tape format I put in. Any idea what might be going on? I hope it’s not a malfunction…we waited months for this thing.

When I rented an HD1200a I had the same problem. I was tearing my hair out (none left now) but eventually a Panasonic tech support person led me to the obscure menu setting that for some reason I could not find on my own. Try calling Panasonic and they will probably solve it with you.

what are {both} of you trying to lay off? 1080 or 720?

Are your tapes recorded in LP?
Check menu number 118 and turn it to off. It’s on by default.

Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I am also working on the Panasonic HD1400 and having the same exact problem. Of course Panasonic technical support closed at 6pm and I’m in a real bind!
