Hi Lena, I don’t know if this has anything to do with what happened to your sequence, but I’ve noticed a few times with the new version of Media Composer that strange things are happening with my audio mixes. I spent two days mixing a cut only to find when I was screening with the directors that for some reason all the level adjustments on tracks A1-A3 were gone for the first 35 mins. Just reset to 0. Luckily in the attic I could retrieve a sequence where the mix was still there. This isn’t the first time my mixes have disappeared with this version and I can’t figure out what is triggering it.
Anyone else experiencing this? I feel like I’m losing my mind at times.

Hi Braedan,
I’m having the same problem with some of the QT files supplied to me by a client, although they are as large as 3GB, so I know there’s a lot of footage on these files. Did you ever find a way to salvage them?

My fullscreen playback has started to periodically stop working. If I trash the FCP prefs and reopen the program it then works again. Try that. What’s annoying though is having to quit, trash prefs, and then resetting everything when I reopen so that it’s where I like it to be. Is there a way to stop the fullscreen playback from doing this so I won’t have to keep trashing prefs?

did you ever find a solution to the problem? I am having the same exact experience trying to capture HDV footage from a Sony Z1U into FCP 6.0.5.Any help would be much appreciated!

Ok, so I’m not exactly sure what you mean when you ask if I have another system… do you mean another edit software? In any case, I downloaded the calibrated software that you provided a link to and successfully opened the first 30 seconds of the video in quicktime player. From there, I exported a quicktime with the same settings as the original file (Apple XDCAM HD 1080p25 (35 Mb/s VBR), 1440 x 1080.) And the quicktime I exported I could bring into FCP. I am probably getting at least a little quality loss doing it this way, right? But at least I can now edit the footage, and it is a small percentage of the footage that I will have to do this with. Also, Calibratedsoftware is much more within our budget.

I have tried the importing on both of my computers, one running 10.5.6 and the other on 10.4.11, So I don’t think it’s an operating system issue. But still they are both up to date with all the software updates.

Ok, so I just downloaded and tried both versions of the XDCAM import (2.7.1 and 2.8). Still had the problem with both! Any other softwares I can try maybe?

So far as I can tell, there’s nothing different about these clips, but again, I wasn’t at the shoot.
I can’t find a download of 2.7.1 or 2.8. I managed to download 2.7.0 but still got the error message. On the Sony UK site when I found the download pages for 2.7.1 and 2.8 there was no download button, it just directed me to the latest version (2.9).

It’s only a handful of files, all of them from different shoots. The rest of the files from those shoots are working fine though. I don’t have another system to test it on, but used the flip4mac link you sent and it seems to be working. I reverted back to version 2.5.1 of xdcam transfer and it is still giving me the error message. However much I need those clips, I can’t afford to pay $500 for the full version of flip4mac’s plug-in… anything else I can use to get them into FCP?
Also, the XDCAM disks don’t seem to be available to me, I think they were re-used. All I have is what they had transfered onto the drives.
