I stand corrected and a quick sound check confirms your sage advice.

Ouch! The perennial problem of semantics on forums. Should be a title to my next book.
I note that the title of this sub-forum is :”Audio Professionals” . Though rookie in Video and even greener in audio, my past professional experience in another field, causes me to underscore what several have stated with regard to capture quality. In professional circumstances, Price is no object is justifiably at the top of the pecking order. Grand Cuvee is not obtainable at ginger ale prices. Obviously, there’s a gradient below “best of breed”. The problem lies in the semantics of “Good” versus better or less than “good”. This issue is perennial on the forums- all of them!
So If you mean “good enough for weddings on DVD” then say so. Good enough for accompaniment of Broadcast caliber HD is a different level of “Good” altogether.
Documentaries span the range from home movies to those intended for the Silver Screen and then the Oscars.
Big Budget film making is that for reason, there’s no skimping on quality.

I concur with all that’s been said regarding distance of the MKH416. It’s an unforgiving mic but when properly positioned, gives that rich chesty tone to a voice. As a point of fact, when shooting Interviews at 6-8′, I have used my ME66/K6 to very good effect. It’s more forgiving to off-target aim than the 416. The Sony ECM44b may disappoint you, as I sold mine, for it’s lack of ‘umph’. The 66B or 77B might be better. I use a Sennheiser EW100 wireless kit for lav and I’ve had NO complaints with it for interviews

Hillarious. Last time I heard Clapton play was in concert at Blackbushe with Bob Dylan. No noise canceling of that concert 😉

Awesome response Jordan! I will take your advice and FYI…

RE:”You can get custom molds made for them – which would both improve the seal AND the comfort of wearing them for hours on end – but if you’re going that route, it would be best to break the bank and get a $900 pair of Futuresonics.”

I make custom molds for myself. Maybe I’ll post a tutorial some day.

    Thanks Much,

Can’t you just post screen shots of each setting? It’s a crude option, but we could then follow your ‘recipe’ 😉

Indeed. I’m taking bets on when the ‘game changer’ will appear. No doubt the hybridization between HD Vidcams and High MP Still Cams is nigh.
At some point, there will be just one merged path. Makes sense really. Since many shooters use supports, brackets etc to accessorize the core camera+lens. The limitations of a still camera form-factor for video will soon be overcome.
Personally, I groove to the ergonomics of palm-corders, as in my HV20 for both stills and video.

RE:”Your monitor goes into the DUMPSTER, and they give you one out of their inventory that they are no longer selling.”

Not to doubt you BUT, actually, they are sent back to China where they are recycled. Apple does not dump electronics in Waste Fills.
In fact, Most consumer electronics bigger than a breadbox are terminated this way- If I may use that term.
The unusable, un-recyclable components do remain in the Chinese dumps though.

Fabulous Andy! Great review link BTW. Getting closer yet to a 2408WFP buy.Any idea what version firmware it ships from Dell with these days?
I know that you had sent another questioner to a great site that listed MATROX MX02 Compatibilities with various monitors or was I dreaming? can’t find it now.
Anyway. Now I know what needs to be bought.Just hope that the offerings don’t change too much in March/April, when I predict that several new monitors will emerge. It’s silly that Apple hasn’t bothered to keep up with Dell and that JVC really can’t offer a monitor for sell than 3 Grand.
