Sorry for having such newbie questions.
I just saw in the rendering dialoge that I have should chosen to render “alpha+RGB”, and this seems to do the trick?

Is there any way to salvage the old rendered images? Or should I just re-render “alpha+RGB”?

Another important question here: If there are a bunch of closed compositions sitting in the project window, does that significantly “hinder the RAM”, or does having maybe 8 open comps affect the overal performance of AFX and rendering of one particular comp.

    Allright, next questions:

(am slowing building a a very mediocre stage…basically just square boxes…hahah)

I see a need to learn a lot more about photoshop. In fact, I don’t even have it.

Does photoshop allow you to import 3d objects with curves? Like parts of the stage look so curved. Are they really curved 3d objects or just an illusion of that?
(The boxes I put together seem to leak through the cracks!!)

Lastly, can anyone direct me to a cool looking stage surface texture? Sorry am such a novice. Anything downloadable?

    Happy Spring!!

Wow..what an honor to hear from you Bill.
The Big Ten Vid is inspiring to me every time I see it.

If all of those stage layers of yours are 2D, it’s incredible how well they fit together.

The 2d parts that you created in Photoshop, did you reassemble them in AFX into 3d objects, the way a person could take 6 layers and make a cube in AFX.

I can’t get over the realism of those 2d beveled edges.
How about the stage surface? It looks awesome and unbelievably real!!

Basically I’m trying to do something kind of similar for a really excellent band that needs a marketing boost. I’m having quite a time with it.

Thanks for all the advice. I’ve read through articles. In my case, I think seeing would be believing!!

    Cheers!!

Thanks for that little bit of info. One of the most confusing things for me is the way he made apparently beveled edges on the stage. Does photoshop a lot you to create 3d objects? And does AFX allow you to import them?

I wanted to say thanks for the advice and help. It worked out just fine and now the video has returned to it’s original HD format!!!

I really appreciate that help. I wish I had known one month earlier!!

    Great!!

You guys are brilliant!! It should almost cost a fee to enjoy this forum. Actually I won’t be able to test these new ideas and theories till another comp finishes rendering in a hour!

I think I will try the PSD file next time I render. Are there any special settings I should choose before it renders?

    Thanks!! 🙂

  • Well…this one has happened to me a few times already. ONe of the last videos I made, the same thing occured in a virtual room I made and the strange light thing was happening on the wall. At first I wasn’t very conscious of it. But now I noticed it and it seems rather ugly.

I use the very latest version of AFX CS3 all updated. I’m using an AMD dual core processor on XP with latest version of quicktime installed. I myself usually render to window media files at highquality settings.

I’m gonna play around a bit with the shadows and diffusion to see how that helps.

    thanks

Brilliant! I figured out! It seemed totally illogical to me at first. But then I saw the option to make a transparency map below. Invigorator Pro is a lot better than I thought.
I’ll definitely have to pick up your DVD Serge. Is it available through download as well?

    thanks!!

All right that is cool. It seems like we are getting somewhere. I didn’t realize that layers could be added into the invigorator world. I knew I could put a picture over a primitive. But not an actual layer.

I’ve got an image of a person on a plane now. Is there anyway to make the plane disappear now?

    thanks…a million!!!
