Thanks again for your adice and thoughts. Hopefully they will bring ProRes to the HyperDeck Shuttle, otherwise it is probably not for me.

May 1, 2012 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Hyperdeck shuttle HDMI in adding set up to DNxHD file?Would there be any harm in just color correcting the DNXHD quicktime files to look as I wished, or trascoding to prores then color correcting them? I was trying to avoid the transcode step if possible.

Thank you very much. I will likely try resolve light for this fix. I really think it needs the ProRes recording functionality as I am not an Avid editor and my hopes were to use this with my Premiere workflow and have less hassle and conversion. To the best of my knowledge premiere doesn’t work with DNxHD MXF files, but maybe I will run a quick test to confirm. Is there a way to turn off all the audio tracks and keep them from recording in the quicktime and get only 2? this has been a bit of an issue for my basic workflow?
Maybe I will download and avid trial and see how it runs, it is tough trying out new software and trying to get jobs done. Im sure you understand.
Thanks again.

May 1, 2012 at 6:16 am in reply to: Hyperdeck shuttle HDMI in adding set up to DNxHD file? Thanks for the tip. I watched it in quicktime and in Adobe Premere CS 5.5. This is a bummer to hear. Is there a work around for non avid folks?

If you are interested in seeing a sample, here is a link to an HD 24p sample from the dv film maker, theses interviews were shot 60i on a Sony HVR Z1U that has terrible 24p, so we decided to use the software to convert it to 24p. it was shot 1080i converted to 1080 24p for edit and mastering then down rezed to 720p for Web HD viewing.

try dvfilm.com their DVFilmMaker 24p software is absolutely awesome. I did a 60i shoot for a 24p documentary and it really does pass completely for 24p if done properly and maintains the perceivable resolution. Not sure you can maintain the “smoothness characteristics as 24p is inherently juddery compared to interlace formats.

Not sure I understand your post, you sound frustrated with the Mac guys loving their Macs maybe I read it wrong. Anyway, I always have the latest Adobe CS suite specifically for Photoshop and I couldn’t live without it on my Mac and in my FCS workflow. It is way to valuable.

Thanks for the great info and review of workflow. I am looking forward to having both and seeing how my working processes can advance, especially with a more inexpensive hardware. Also, hoping Apple is going to step up soon and meet adobe’s performance on the playing field.

Thanks Eric,
Full contact Tae Kwon Do base with Boxing style hands originally, much like old PKA kickboxing. Little Aikido. Then years later, Muay Thai, Fought once in Vegas. Then back to Korean styles with mixed origin and some hapkido, and combative. Started when I was about 10 or 11 yeas old. It is a part of me know. I think they all have good things in them, and are great in many ways for us humans. So this is why I need a good stable editor, cause it really hurts when you bang your head and you know how to hit hard. 🙂Best regards,
