if you are just trying to change the opacity of each letter then take the sentence into photoshop and just make each letter its own layer. That way you can work on each letter on its own. Simple answer… just done in a cool way in the video. I feel like there is more to it in the video but doing each letter on its own is A way of doing it.

Pay attention to your video scopes. If your whites are too hot it will start to mess with your audio and the station will compress the crap out of your stuff. Just another addition.

I do enjoy pro tools but will say that if your willing to take a little bit of time Apple Logic isnt too bad for a fraction of the price. Its great just to have the ability to create music as well. I will also say that when you get pro tools you have to buy digidesign stuff only…. with logic you can use any hardware. Just my opinion…. do miss pro tools sometimes though… i am on Logic now.

    Jason,
Where do you go to school? I just graduated from CMU and work at a post house in Southfield. I interned down here as well and know a lot of good people to get in touch with for possibilities.

The great majority of work I do is TV commercials. I use the track plug and final plug on just about every spoken word that comes out of this place. They work good for music tracks as well just to even things out. The multidynamics is ok too. I feel like sometime that can be too much compression though. So ya… using those plug ins on voices are great. You can control the EQ very well with these on voices.

I personally like Wave Arts Track Plug and Final Plug. Those are good 3rd party plug ins that you can use on different programs such as Pro Tools AND Soundtrack and logic and so on. Good compression and EQ.

Compression may be a big issue. I also send a lot of ads to stations and I can tell you that they will compress your project WAY more after you already do. So if you do not have it well compressed and leveled then once they get their hands on it the levels will sound way different then what it did at your studio. At least thats how it seems around here in Michigan in the US.
