Does anybody know how to create the text effect that is the begining of the video “Right Now” by Van Halen. There is a preset effect called random fade up and that is what i want but i want each letter to appear and then disappear. In the preset all of the letters come up one by one and stay up. Here is a link to the music video with what i want to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCkQZOnCN3k

it’s just a matter of animating the opacity of each character

you may be able to edit the preset to get what you want, or use an expression, but really, you can just animate each character’s opacity individually.

okay so I messed around with the opacity and I cannot get it. How do I change the opacity of each letter?

if you are just trying to change the opacity of each letter then take the sentence into photoshop and just make each letter its own layer. That way you can work on each letter on its own. Simple answer… just done in a cool way in the video. I feel like there is more to it in the video but doing each letter on its own is A way of doing it.

great thanks! I actually just put a random fade preset on it and didn’t try to make anything too fancy
