I have one – filmic pro. And it was working fine…Then it wasn’t… then it was again …. then it wasn’t again.

Got any other recommendations for good phone apps?

Hey! That’s great! Bunch of wasted time over the last few months, but at least it’s working now!

    Thanks!

    Yeah, that would work. Thanks.

It is strange, and does not seem to make sense to me. I’m sure to someone deep in the heart of adobe it makes perfect sense…

    Thanks again!

Thank you for posting that. Actually that is fairly helpful. Although it doesn’t address my original question. It certainly has saved me a little time on the output stage of things.

  • I set the camera at F1.9 and use the ND filter with 2x 500W lights somewhere nearby so I can stay in the F1.9. Keep the film speed low. and try and move my subject far from their background to cut the shadows and make the effect more pronounced. It is worth carting around a 150/300W globe as well to brighten up the back as needed.

I have got some semi decent results, nothing like the SLRs with a prime lens on however but certainly not offensive.

If I was going to be just doing interviews and that was going to be a lot of DOF work I would be seriously considering something like a Canon 70D as a back up for that kind of thing. Cheap and for me has been very effective for the intimate stuff.

The color and image quality is very noticeable. Without fail I used to have to do color work on the images I got from the EX-3. From my first shots with the 300 I haven’t had to adjust at all, except for effect.

The handheld limitations with the non swiveling grip could be an issue, but they are well and truly made up for with the zoom control improvements and extending shoulder support.

The viewfinder is good, I did a quick calibration test to make sure what I was seeing was what I was getting before my first shoot and it was spot on. With the EX-3 you could get into big trouble trusting the viewfinder without checking the settings on it.

I haven’t stretched its legs yet, but looking forward to it.

    Disappointments– Still disappointed there wasn’t a 1080 60P option.

Just a thought, but have you checked the viewfinder dial settings. I manually calibrated mine to the image I was editing and marked the dial settings. Otherwise I found a great variance in what I saw and what i got.

  • My initial impression is that there are many improvements not much to detract in this new model…

They key I can pull is much better, the zoom mechanism is a dramatic improvement, the options of codec varieties is all good.

On the downside (for me personally) is that the UDF footage is too heavy to be logged effectively in our logging computer. And render times, and storage is also respectively up.

Do I need to upgrade, not really, as although I will get a better product, the time it takes me to get it is going to be raised….

  • Yeah, the problem is starting it just seems to surge, and using the handle zoom is just not practical all the time. Anyway I should look into the libec. OR if they have upgraded the controls maybe I won’t need to?
