So does this just bake the effect into the plate? Renders the comp, replaces the comp with a new baked out plate? These are just baked out precomps?
My concern is that in order for other artist to render this comp, not only does the original plate need to link to the project, but the baked out precomp needs to always link to the project. -
Dan,
I just wanted to say thank you very much for “current date script.” I know it seems like a minor thing, but it is so nice not to have to deal with hand doing certain things over and over! Great script -
Can someone Please test this for me. You will need a larger 2k seq. I am using DPX files. I have a large comp with about 50 layers. When I do a collect files it is still taking over 12min to run this command.
Again, I have done this a million times in AE 7 with 4k seq at around 150 layers, so way bigger, on the same network. AE7 takes 15 seconds, AE8 takes 12 min on average.
The two variables, win vista and AE8.
All was fine with win XP and AE7.
All renders on the farm have stopped for more than 60 days now.
Please help me out! -
AE won’t import obj files and give you that 3d mesh. Sounds like you will be doing a bit of compositing so stick with AE for that. If you know a 3d app, you can downlaod a model, build the 3d elements out and import them into AE for the final composite.
Or, if you know Nuke you can use Nuke and import the obj and do you entire show in Nuke.
Personally I would build out my camera move and 3d model in 4D cinema, import the camera and rendered 3d Elements and comp it in AE. -
I was hoping for any ideas how I could apply the example I presented to a large scale.
I tried to make it simple to spark a dialog, if you don’t know, no biggie.
Re do a track that has been tracked in PF Track and Boujou xyz + zoom and rotation all locked well. over 500 frames an hours of tracking to get me to a good point, sometimes re tracking is not the best option if AE has a lattice or soft selection to adjust a portion of the camera tracks.
I am not sure if you don’t know, or if AE users can’t so this and I need to use Maya do deal with this. Constructive Suggestions would be very helpful.
Sorry if I under played the question, I wanted to try to make the question clear and simple.
These are minor camera adjustment that don’t merit a re track consuming half the day to solve the camera. -
OK Guys,
I need some suggestions. This is outrageous!!! My system is fast, my network is fast enough. Even if it was slow, why would it take 10min just to get to the dialog box. I am not collecting my media, I am just trying to get to the dialog box to send the “project only” to the watch folder. I have done this process a million times, now in CS3 it takes ten min.
Are there any prefs or new code written that is diff from AE7 to AE8.
AE7 on this same network same computer 8 sec when I click on Collect files. Now same machine, same network, same project, but with AE*, TEN MINUTES, 10 minutes is just wrong. I do 20 renders a day. That is almost 3.5 hours a day sitting waiting.
Are there any suggestions! -
I am going to try all your suggestions. This answers my question perfectly.
Thanks you for all the ideas and options.
I will give this a shot today and see if I can get this offset working for me.
Thanks again! -
Yes Sir, Upgraded to CS3 while working on the same project. AE7 collects super fast. I am using large DPX files, but if ae 7 does it, now that CS3 is on my machine, AE8 will not collect with the same speed. It could be the network, but I have been working on the same network with the same project for the last two days. I don’t now what AE8 is doing when you exe collect files, it should not take 8-10 min long.
So bummed, every network render now takes longer to send to the farm than render it. I might manually open the project on each render node, that will take about 7 min..LOL -
Dave or any other brave sole,
If you have a copy of AE8, do me a favor.
Make a comp at 23.98 or 23.976 it does not matter in this case.
IT can be SD or HD also.
Import an image sequence.
start the image sequence on the second frame in the comp. so the first frame is blank.
Render out a QT, lets say Photo jpeg.Play back the QT and verify the hold frame or strobe playback.
Your image sequence will need some movement to see the hold frame.Thank you
