So the new drivers Decklink have release will not work with XP 64 yet! We have to now down grade to XP which is fine. Still would love to get any advise as we sludge forward through all the problems. We will not have to dig anything it is all prerendered material that is imported. Than we lay to tape. I know the drives are fast enough I just dont have faith in this Decklink, I have used the Kona and now this decklink HD needs alot of time to trouble shoot.

April 16, 2005 at 3:44 am in reply to: 2:3:2:3 vrs 3:2 pulldown

I am doing the rev telecine in Cinema tools 2.2. It has been telecined to DVCAM at 30NDF. My dailies are from 35 4perf dropped to DVCAM. I dig @ 29.97 on the DSR 1800 in FCP 4.5 HD. I do the reverse in cinema tools. Every time I have done this the pop-up to remove the 3:2 comes up, I remove it and use that new media The Identify is perfect. Now after I dig this one tape I do the reverse and the dialog box comes up to remove the 2:3:2:3, when I click OK it will not play back properly in my 23.98 seq. All my zero keycodes are at A frames. When I jog frames off the deck the letters read 00a 01b 02c_ 03D_ 03D 04A 05b 06c_ 07D_ 07D 08A ect.
What is weird is I have never seen that Dialog box about the 2:3:2:3. I have 60 hours of film transfer, 80 flex files, and this is the only time I have encountered this 2:3:2:3. Every time it has been the option to remove the 3:2 pulldown.

I need to create a film list for my neg cutter but this media is not playing back with the pulldown removed so my clip is slipped when I Identify on the A frame 2 sec in after the hole punch. My neg list is incorrect. I am on my way to the Telecine house tonight to retransfer, but I am not sure what the problem really is. What should I ask my Telecine op.

    Peter,
What I have been doing is this: I have a Kona card that will do the conversion on the fly. I lay off via Edit to tape, I have a sony dsr 1800. I use a usb serial keyspan for device control and output video and sound via sdi. It has been flawless for the the 20 reels I have done. When I laid off via firewire my audio would drift because of the mismatch frame rate.
But for your composer, you should just export a motion jpeg QT from your 23.98 project. Export @ 29.97 for his Protools session. Put a 29.97 window burn for reference.
If he is protools illiterate, export each reel to DVD with a window burn, so you can bypass the lay off. You can take that to a dub house to make 3/4″ tapes if needed.
This is just my experience and this has worked for me.
    Good luck
    Anthony
