Nice tut, but you are straying away from the original question.
The original footage is from a VHS-c and i seriously doubt that’s widescreen. I think it’s more like square pixels imported wrong from Premiere 6.0.

Rightclick on clips in project window and interprete footage: conform to ntsc 0.9.

Via firewire will give you full resolution as i assume your overlay does not.

Check your field order in AE. Should be the same as your project settings.

Premiere’s preview is via firewire so you will need a dv/av converter like a camera with dv in or a dvd recorder.
