In Windows explorer you can only batch rename the name not the extention you were revering to, did not make myself clear.

Yes the Bridge can batch rename clips but so can Windows Explorer.
In The Bridge you have more controle over the renaming.

I am not sure but i looks like alternating clips every frame.
Put the beginning of clip B on the end of clip A, cut every (so) frame(s).
Trow every other section of the top clip away.
Select the top clips and drop them on the bottom clip.

You can put the markers on the music clip by opening the clip from the timeline or Project Panel in the Source Monitor and adding the clip markers by using the * key.

If the audio is embedded in the videofile the answer is no.
If you do not want the audio just mute or delete (hold ALT) in the timeline.
If the avi is sd footage from a camera you can capture it with only the video on, but i assume its HD?
