  • In agree with Ron. I find Bridge perfect for pre-sorting my clips. i use the rating and labeling features to designate which clips I’m most likely to use (for me that’s the green label). I change those labels to yellow if I actually use them in the final movie. Before I import a clip by dragging and dropping it into the project panel, I usual rename it more descriptively.

I experienced a similar problem when I first started using a video tripod. It turned out that it was due to a less than fluid pan mechanism in the tripod itself. After lots of practice I am now able to pan perfectly smoothly handheld. To do this, hold the camera up to your eye, elbows in, put your legs apart in the position you want to be at the END of the movement. Then twist your waist to the start position and start filming. The pan then gets easier as you near the end. Go slowly and practice this movement often, even without a camera!

  • Your video looks just fine to me, though the Magic Bullet Looks preset tends to give a softer appearance overall.

Does this mean that, if I decide to subscribe to CC and create new projects there, if I then decide to cancel my CC subscription, I will no longer have access to the new projects in my current copy of CS6? If this is the case, then I’d be locked into CC for life!

Well, that’s interesting info. I use both a GH2 and GH3 and have never imported anything other than the .MTS files. I too had no idea what the rest of the stuff was for and have never had any problems. Most of my clips are under 20 seconds.

  • As an owner of a GH3 myself, I really enjoyed seeing what this camera can do in a narrative situation. No fancy tricks, just solid, technically pleasing film. Exposure seems very good, especially in the kitchen scene where he’s drinking whiskey. Liked the slomo in the car as he’s falling asleep. I use the 40% frame rate quite a bit when shooting birds. Close-ups of his beard as he shaved were startlingly clear. Which lenses are you using?

I regularly export.mp4files(with H.264) from Premiere Pro CS6 to upload to Vimeo or YouTube. I’m on Windows 8 on a PC. No one has ever had a problem viewing my footage on either Mac, PC, or mobile devices. I doubt they all have the latest version of Windows Media Player. I can also view .MOV files on my computer with Quicktime. WMP and QT are free to download, so if you are delivering files direct to a client’s computer, they can easily download them. Good luck!
