July 17, 2011 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Is there a way to force motion blur to be calculated AFTER a layer effect?thanks everybody and especially Walter for your detailed and helpful replies!! Yeah I suspected the only workaround would be externalizing the blur as a separate effect somehow, so now I know!
thanks!!

April 13, 2010 at 8:16 am in reply to: follow the leader with delay – but on a curvy shapehi thanks, yeah I had actually (re)discovered that site yesterday and got it working but the orient to path doesn’t seem to work quite as it should. The weird thing is everything goes as it should, and then every 3 frames or so the objects in the “trail” flip out and rotate like 90 degrees instead of orienting to the path, then they go back to orienting as they should.
Anyone come across this roblem before?

i guess this is already resolved but for what it´s worth there´s a cool little freeware program called “compressor repair” that seems to fix everything that goes wrong with compressor.

if you’re talking all the content of a precomposition it’s the same solution, turn the continuos rasterisation symbol on and your precomp will no longer be croppe. but if you’re talking your current comp, then there’s no way that I know of other than temporarily setting you comp ize to be larger.

sorry this probably won’t be much help, but since you mentioned permissions and you did get that weird error from after effects, have you tried running a permissions cleanup software like onyx?
I know that sometimes I have that dropped frame thing happen when I try to view an mpeg in after effects. I always have to convert it to something else first to see it properly.with that in mind maybe this post would help you? it mentiones getting the same error as you are having when using certain codecs…

another thing you could try since I think you mentioend you’re on windows (?) is deleting the prefs file. I know when I used to work on a PC I used to have to do that all the time and it fixed all kinds of problems.:)

February 23, 2009 at 10:52 am in reply to: Animating Position in After Effects without using Camerai don’t kow about proanimator, so forgive me if I’m telling you something you know already, but to animate the text in after effects at least you need to asign it to a set (you do this by going into the invigortaor main window and selecting the object button (the cube) the selecting all things you want to belong to the same “set” (ie that move togther as one), and assigning them a set number. Once you have done this, back in your after effects effects window (or underneath the layer) you will see a bunch of sets (up to 8) and here you can animate the motion properly. It’s a little clumsy though as the x,y and z positions are all seperate and you can’t jsut drage the object in your comp window to position it as you can normally in after effects so the best thing to do is assign a “3d track layer” which is a layer for your invigorator object to follow which you can move normally like and other object in after effects. (note there is a weee work around you have to be aware of here and that is that whenever you move your leader it will appear not to have affected your invig layer, you need to purge every time you move it in order to see what you have done. a little annoying but once you learn the leyboard shortcut for “purge” it’s just habit. Well this is really brief cos i’m not sure if this will help you since you’re talking about pro-animator and not AE (though your question title says AE), but i hope maybe it gives you some ideas :=)

February 17, 2009 at 9:34 am in reply to: Invigorator: can’t do a ram preview, the comp window just goes grey – too many invigorator layers in my comp?actually that didn’t really help either, it still didn’t ram preview like it normally does, where you hit space bar and it previews the timeline building the little green line as it goes and then playing back the timeline in realtime as it goes. For what it’s worth, I ended up deleting the preferences file and setting the whole thing back to adaptive resolution and now it’s back to normal 🙂

February 16, 2009 at 6:20 pm in reply to: Invigorator: can’t do a ram preview, the comp window just goes grey – too many invigorator layers in my comp?never mind, I’m an idiot, for some reason my comp was set to adaptive resolution (don’t know how that happened, I didnt change it I swear!) but when I set it to open GL it was fine again. nothing to do with zaxwerks at all, just a coincidence it happened when i started working on a project with lots of invigorator layers….
