hi..

I find that whenever I get issues like this one I take it in and out again of quicktime pro.. as same or another sequence or mov or whatever.. but I am no pro and it may still have the same problem, but often it gets it sorted for whatever reason.

Hi..

I’ve been wondering how this has been done for a long time now. I think it may have been done using Corel Painters scripting method. Basically everything you draw is saved and a movie is made of the played back movie and exported. It has bugs i.e sometimes it glitches and does not work, so I had hopes AE or Photoshop would have had something similar. If you find out please let me know. I bought the latest version of painter to do this, as I understand the scripting is better in v11.

However I bought this up before in this forum (https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/202/883318 https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/202/883307) and the main problem is that its not easy to see what you draw as there are no transparent layer over the paint viewer when you draw to reference the previous line painted, so I think the only solution is to draw the whole thing in Photoshop and the stroke delete then reverse the whole animation, if you see what I mean.

Then there is the old method of stop motion filming……

Actually I don’t think I will mind a “cartoony” effect. I spent 15 years touring Europe with old animated mechanical hand painted magic lantern slides that dissolved through many layers using 5 different lenses projecting at the same time. It’s that effect of a gradual dissolve from day to night that I am looking for, with a bit of “gizmos”. But I am aware it would be technically “shit”. It’s just in the background, so I want sort of twinkles here and there, like diamond sparkles on a ring would be and then colored, as if a gel were superimposed. All this whilst one of the illuminated crap shop signs of a sledge and father Christmas flies by. Actally now I write it this does sound really awful.

Still maybe I can experiment ..how best can I make a sparkle like on a diamond ring? and then I will just drop that in on some of the candles as I fade it. Give it some “bling!!!”

yes please someone come back with an answer to this, this has also been a big problem to me.

I want to draw a detailed house with each line on different layers and did not know even where the roof joins the house. I will probably do this in Photoshop and import composition and then effect/stroke each line to each layer (about 100 layers) from Photoshop (more labor though…) But I am trying Corel Painter to get around this.

In AE it would be extremely useful, if we could assign a comp as a tracing paper overlay on to a layer when painting. One solution is to print out an image of a comp the correct size onto overhead projector film and sellotape this to the monitor and then draw!!! WOW!!!!

yupppp… it’s on 3 drives, incremented every time I save, and auto-save every 5 mins… even so as a “nube” its amazing how many times I revert or go to the latest auto-save. I suppose experimenting is learning, 3 steps forward and 2 steps back and it really is a huge project and very detailed. Started March… ahh thats 7 months for just 3 mins in the can!! and huge learning curve.

Er… and apart from 1 hr a day spent watching tutorials like cow/youtube/lynda etc and messing about just trail and error on a redundant project to test before I commit….

The reason I lock so much, is that as a relative “nuuubbby”, I still get into lots of accidental messes, (and this project is very large,) maybe I can leave out locking much more in the future. Also using a Wacom pen is quite fast, but I get “trigger happy” with keyframes and layers, thus accidentally move/slide keyframes and layers so often, depending on how I hold the pen.

After 5 months on working on one project it will be finished next week, just tweaking details.

So your solution got kudos it was bugging me so much.
