Hi again…
This problem has been such a bug, now its “mucho” easier, however if I want to get to the same time in a nested comp 5 below that one, I still have to unlock each one at a time, each time to get to the next and so on … is there another way. (the nested comps are various lengths)
Tah..
Thanks for all your help

September 24, 2009 at 12:39 pm in reply to: Is my PCup to scratch for AE and what should I upgrade?New toy just out: Sata 10k RPM hd’s. Might be something worth looking into – the difference between a 5400 rpm and a 7200 rpm is very very noticeable.. and I work on 10k and 15k rpm SCSI drives.. It’s a MASSIVE difference in performance (in my opinion).
Can you please tell me what the difference in performance is …in what area? what tasks?previews? render? can you please be more specific?
Thanks

September 21, 2009 at 10:45 pm in reply to: exported tagas, then re-imported, resolution quality????Thanks that is so helpful, I will change to tiffs. I much prefer sequences, I can replace/overwrite frames and if AE crashes then I can start anywhere again.
Thanks… tonight starts the 1st long render 11 hours or so!!

Hi..
I think if it was me… I would film the guy and looking into the mirror bit. Then film him with the wig on bit.. Get a cheap very wig.
Tripod the whole thing. Then get him to sit very still put a key cloth color over his head with a hole in it, tie this as straight as possible to avoid shadows, and put a cheap wig on his head (or use a plastic head on a table which would stay still, and film from same angle..) put a bit of hair wax on the wig to keep the strands from moving too much, otherwise it would be a blur, stop frame film, the cut up the wig bit by bit.
Then go into AE key out the wig, put it back in place and then time reverse, then work some AE effects as suggested above to get it really exciting..
But then I combine stop motion and AE in my films, but sometimes off the wall answers do work… er sometimes !
er.. just an idea!

gee thanks
wow … I had a look at the “hdr compander” effect, in time I am sure I will get to grips with this all. So thanks. Never heard of it before.
I feel that by just looking at the final tagas outputs that I am getting, on a full size detail, they look fine at 16bpc in project and 32 bit output. I was just confused as to why if I output at 32bit and set the project at 8 or 16 bpc seems somehow these numbers should be the same.
Its all a bit “bitty”
thanks

September 8, 2009 at 3:00 pm in reply to: shortcut for scale when repositioning in 3d spaceThanks..
I seem to have to do this a lot, partly because I don’t plan the project very much and dump the layers in. In this case its a little theater stage and pushing the scenery around is the problem. If I knew more maths I could sit there with a calculator I suppose. I just thought there would be a shortcut like holding down the shift key and then moving back in space. Oh well…
Thanks anyway

Thanks Kevin,
I am selling the family heirlooms and going for best hopefully!!! Not from the apple shop and in UK there are only a few cheaper mac sellers, but I can certainly add non apple RAM.. and shop around.
I was going for….
CTO MAC PRO 8 CORE 2 X 2.66 QUAD INTEL XEON “NEHALM” PROCESSORr 6GB/640GB/GT120 and swapping out the 6GB for 4 x 4 = 16 GB ram.
It is the video card I was wondering about.. it is just that the NVIDIA GT120 is the one that is already in the machines when it was made. and I cant find out if it works ok with CS3 as I cant find “supported video cards for AE ADOBE site
If is is a NEHALM it should hyper thread shouldn’t it? Anything else I should find out…??? i7 cpus, xeon 5500 series?? its all so complicated. ahhhhhh….
Thanks greatly

hi…
Thanks… Looks like this could be useful but I have not quite “got it” unfortunately, I am doing something wrong…. !!!???
But anyway on a test of just a drawing of a box and a roof and a chimney (3 shapes) I could not get this to work even like you say.
Set keyframes for the start property, animating from 100 – 0. Do you mean 100% and the end 0%. Also key out white as in key out brighter? Also on stroke can “reveal original image” work to expose the original drawing. So I can use the colors of the children s pens in the drawings?
Anyway this may not seem clear…. but I must be “missing” something. Tried 3 times.
