Hi Dominic,
The “separate XYZ position” preset will affect the position values.
Creating three null objects and assigning to each an x rotation, y rotation, and z rotation will affect the Rotation values.

Hi there,
Simply type the word “missing” into the search field in the Project panel, this will isolate all missing files. Then double-click the missing asset and relocate it to relink it (and any other missing assets in the same relative path).
If you can’t rememeber where the file was you have two choices. After Effects has a file path column in the Project panel that will tell you the file pth of the original file. Alternatively, you can search for the file in the dialog box that appears when you double-click the missing footage.

I agree with whats already been said. It’s a more professional touch to provide them with training materials that relate to the course. On my courses I provide them with a copy of my “After Effects CS5 Learn by Video” as it has video training identical to what they cover in my course. Or you could provide them each with a copy of “Classroom in a Book”. this way you can say that you are using “official Adobe Training Materials” for your course too! 🙂

Hi there,
You can achieve an effect similar to this by cleverly using multiple instances of the Time Blend FX effect. this effect is brilliant and well under-used. It allows you to copy and paste frames within a layer. With some clever compositing I think it could be done using this technique. I’ll try to see if I can find time within the next month or so to create a tutorial for it.

Yes, you can do this. Just draw the spiral in Illustrator and then use the steps I outlined in my previous post to paste the path data into the Position data of the PNG layer. 🙂

Hi there,
First of all, to copy the clipboard data (including paths) from Illustrator to After Effects you must make sure that the Illustrator Preferences are set up to do so. Go to the Preferences > File Handling and clipboard in Illustrator and choose the option AICB and make sure Preserve Paths is selected.
Then in After Effects open the Position Property of the layer you want to copy the data into and select the Position property (by clicking on the word Position). Move the Timemakrker to where you want the move to start and then hit Paste. The Keyframes will automatically be pasted as roving keyfrmaes so simply select and drag the first or last one to retime the animation as required!
